IDIOTS!!! This "story" gives yet more proof of the old saw "There are liars, damned liars, and statisticians." They look at the NUMBER of carpoolers versus the total number of daily trips. The total number of jobs in the valley has shrunk over the past year, inevitably reducing the number of daily trips. Some of those let go no doubt carpooled and some who were retained lost their carpool partner. So even though there is no doubt less actual pollution, these "reporters" find a way to make it look like a environmental disaster. Typical. Perhaps we should add a fourth category to the quote -- "reporters".
