BRIDGETON -- Hate crime prosecution is being considered as an option to help overcome the problem of Mexican victimization in violent crimes here, according to the county prosecutor.

"It is something that I'll tell you our office has been thinking about here, where Hispanics -- in Bridgeton, specifically Mexicans -- have been the targets of criminal activities," Prosecutor Ron Casella said Friday.

Isn't it funny that Ron Casella, who you people in Bridgeton are paying for, is so aggressive in hate crime prosecutions. How does his office respond when a US citizen is robbed by a border jumper?

Yeah, right.

The implication of this story is that Hispanics are the victims of hate crimes perpetrated by whites. Funny how there is no mention of what racial/ethnic group is actually committing these alleged "hate crimes" against Hispanics.

the problem of Mexican victimization

Victimization my eye. Our prisons are filled with Mexicans, and they got there by being perps, not victims.

Bravo Sierra............

Nothing else. Here in Texas the Mexicans are trying to overtake the real masters of assault/battery/carjacking and other crimes.

They have a tough road to hoe, as the masters make up about 15% of the population and commit 60% of the crimes.

I don't know which race will win, but I do know which race suffers.

Don't ask me for the stats, just come to Houston and I will drop you off in various parts of town; tell you which race is going to kill you and then you can compile your own study. Please test me if you desire, and have 9 lives.

The real hate crime is being perpetrated by the Mexican government with tacit approval of our own, aided and abetted by the likes of Archer Daniels Midland, Tyson Chicken, and others, along with a vast network of smugglers, money launderers, corrupt lawyers, and human traffickers.

How does the robbery of a Mexican who carries large amounts of cash on him/her become a hate crime?

"How does the robbery of a Mexican who carries large amounts of cash on him/her become a hate crime?"

I can't believe that you would post such a naive question. What is it that you don't understand? A Mexican is a Latino, who is a Hispanic and that makes him a member of a minority group.

Anyone who acts against a member of a minority group is guilty of hate crimes.

Except..............here, in the Rio Grande Valley, where Causasians comprise 8% of the population and we are told that we "don't qualify because you're not a minority".

"Last June, the police department distributed fliers to various businesses that employ large numbers of Hispanic immigrants, as well as churches, to let them know, if they are here illegally, they can come to police without fear of deportation."

So when did this police department conclude it had the authority to pick and choose which laws it would enforce and which it would disregard?

Wonderful.

And how generous of the Internal Revenue Service to withhold data on lawbreakers from Immigration officers. I wonder sometimes whether America is nurturing a suicidal impulse.

The 2000 Census showed Mexicans account for 14.3 percent of the city's population, and Hispanics, 24.5 percent. But a staggering 50 percent of the cases the Bridgeton detectives handled in February involved Hispanic victims; in March, 42.5 percent; and in April, 45.24 percent.

What is lacking is any corresponding analysis of the ethnicity of the perps...

Last June, the police department distributed fliers to various businesses that employ large numbers of Hispanic immigrants, as well as churches, to let them know, if they are here illegally, they can come to police without fear of deportation.

If they know which business are employing known illegals, why didn't the police arrest the business owners?

It would be interesting to see how many of these crimes are being perpetrated by illegals &/or people of Mexican decent. Would they still be hate crimes?

So then when crimes are committed, esp. here in the SW USA, if the media says that the police are looking for Hispanics, that is a no-no? Crime will be on the increase for sure.

Bingo! You win the prize.

Most crime in the United States is same race. The serial killer of women recently arrested in the deep south was an exception to that rule.
