GOP Sen. Kuhl names 'Women of Distinction' (ONE IS VIRULANT ANTI-AMERICAN/ANTI-SEMITE FROM ITHACA)
Ithaca Journal ^ | Local News - Thursday, June 5, 2003 | Briefly in Tompkins: 4th Item

ITHACA -- State Senator John R. Kuhl Jr., R-53rd District, recognized three women, including two from Tompkins County, in the New York State Senate's sixth annual "Women of Distinction" program at an awards ceremony in Albany.

This year's honorees [included] Asma Barlas ...of Ithaca.

Barlas is the associate professor and chair of the department of politics and the former director of the Center for the Study of Culture, Race, and Ethnicity at Ithaca College.

****

Barlas is virulantly Anti-Republican, Anti-American and appears to be an Anti-Semite.

Shortly after September 11, Barlas penned a column for the Ithaca College Alumni magazine in which she proclaimed that people like Osama bin Laden, as well as all sorts of "moderates" hate America because America's foreign policy since World War II has been one that "seeks control over the entire world by any means necessary." Furthermore, Barlas said, "people everywhere are sick and tired" of our "political economy based on their systematic abuse, exploitation, expropriation, and degradation."

Responding to a study that found Ithaca college "plagued by liberal bias," Barlas accused Republicans of trying to "stamp out diversity in the name of diversity" and made derogatory comments towards "conservative white male[s]."

In addition, she accused the Bush administration of conducting "unilateral, unprovoked, and unlawful act of aggression" against Iraq, and delighted anti-Semitic conspiracy theorists everywhere by parroting the lie that war against Iraq was "promoted 'by a small group of 25 or 30 neoconservatives, almost all of them Jewish, almost all of them intellectuals ... people who are mutual friends and cultivate one another and are convinced that political ideas are a major driving force of history'."

To be blunt, Kuhl might have better honored one of the Dixie Chicks, or even Susan Sarandon.

His recognition of this venonmous toad of a woman as a "woman of distinction" demonstrates his complete incompetence as a Republican Senator and his total inability to represent the views of his conservative Upstate New York Constituency.

He should step down immediately.

Kuhl's website is here.

Polite, to the point, letters expressing displeasure with Kuhl's idea of what constituates a "woman of distinction" can, and should be, sent to his office here.

Polite, to the point telephone calls can be made to his office at this number: (518) 455-2091.

And polite, to the point, letters may be sent to:

Albany Office
Room 310 Legislative Office Building
Albany, NY 12247

Please politely let Sen. Kuhl know that his actions here are completely unacceptable.

Oh, one more thing:

Ithaca is the City of Evil.

My E-mail to the Senator:

Dear Senator Kuhl,

As a United States Senator, you are not only a Senator for the state of NY, you are my Senator also as what you do, vote for etc. very often effects the citizens in Arizona as well as NY.

One of the three women of distinction you elected is an anti-American socialist, inflicting her jaded views on future Americans. Electing Asma Barlas is an affront to all who died on 9/11 for starters, and is an affront to all women who believe in the US Constitution. Ms. Barlas stand for NONE of it and is Anti-Republican, Anti-American and appears to be an Anti-Semite as well.

You Sir, owe me an apology and the country an explanation of why you did this. This sort of pandering should be left up to the junior senator from NY. Why you would select Asma Barlas doesn't pass the smell test for honesty and integrity.

Sincerely,
XX
United States Citizen
Tucson, AZ

Thank you for your insightful comments.

Actually, Kuhl is a State Senator, not a United States Senator.

However, as a State Senator he is still charged with upholding and defending the Constitution and, by extension, the citizens under it, and so your comments are still largely applicable.

here was his answer to me on this so-called SPOTREP. You see, I had this desire for the truth on this alleged SPOTREP and this is what I am regurgitating to you.

Formatted badly (by me) for your perusal:

Let me expand on your research. I use SPOTREP or SITREP to indicate threads that I want to store in a database I have developed.
I then use the threads to illustrate the state of the world in a couple of classes I teach on comparative worldviews for high school and college kids.
FR has been a gold-mine of illustrations. I usually use those terms to tag threads at work which I then download at home.

SPOTREP is a date/time identified event; SITREP describes a state of affairs of interest. Hope that helps.
