Yes, but Pet Sounds was released in '66, which is all that really matters, right?

have you listened yet to Wilco's Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. Jeff Tweedy was heavily influenced by Pet Sounds. I'm gonna have to dig through my vinyl to give it a listen again.

The Beatles were reportedly seriously PO'ed that a "surfer" band beat them to the sound. Kinda funny.

and then there was that god-awful rolling stones attempt at the symphonic rock sound...couple of good tunes, but overall, what a train wreck.

for the record, i never really "got" the moody blues sound. Maybe it was the bass player in a band I was in years ago who insisted on singing Knights in White Satin in a monotone, an out of key monotone at that. But he now lives in Malibu, and I'm stuck inside of Mobile with the Memphis blues again (actually Baltimore). I hope he's not reading this thread, we're doing a gig in a few weeks (no singing for him).
