Going by the logic in this article, there's no reason at all to study a virus or bacterium if said pathogen is *not* a bioweapon agent.

I guess that means we can cut all that AIDS research funding and direct it towards more useful pursuits.

Ignorant reporter. Every bacterium and virus mentioned in this article is classed as a Category A (plague), B (Ebola), or C (hantavirus) biological agent.
