Before I ever read this, I had no opinion one way or another. My spouse is a diabetic and her and I cannot stand using aspartame - not because of what this says but it leaves an aftertaste (perceived or not, I don't know). We switched to Splenda which is a natural diabetic sweetener made from sugar (yes, we checked with our doctor and pharmacist first). It tastes like - sugar but has no carbohydrates. We have been watching the dietic foods very closely and many of them are quietly switching to Splenda. Who knows!

Splenda does NOT taste like sugar. You're fooling yourself if you think it tastes like anything other than crap.....
If you don't believe me, do a taste test with regular and diet V8 Splash. See if you don't gag.....

Go online a look real hard and you can find similar screeds about Splenda too.

Splenda is no more natural then Nutrasweet is. Splenda is a chemically modified sucrose, making it indigestible to humans, therefor no caloric value. Nutrasweet is a di peptide, two amino acids linked together which are percieved as sweet. There is NO real scientific evidence that Nutrasweet causes any significant medical problems except in people with phenylketonuria.

Stevia is another good sweetner, especially for coffee and tea.
