[history]
The two sides in the recall battle traded signature-gathering statistics Thursday as it became increasingly likely that those hoping to remove Gov. Gray Davis from office will succeed in forcing an election.
Recall proponents said they had shipped a total of 1 million signatures to county elections offices and are well on their way to submitting more than 1.3 million signatures by next week.

"I'm glad they wasted the $1 million of hard-earned union-member money on a bunch of worthless pieces of paper," Gilliard said, "but it's a complete joke. Their whole goal was to close us down and confuse people. ... They've had zero impact."
More union dues dollars peed down the drain.

Gray Davis (aka Gray-Out Davis) will be gone. He turned a budget surplus into a HUGE deficit. Good riddance.

Dan Terry........... "They don't want their votes from last November stolen by a few ambitious extremists who didn't like the election results." Dan, Recall proponents say that by the end of next week they will have turned in 2.3 million signatures demanding a recall. That doesn't sound like just a few extremists to me. Does anybody know how many registered voters there are in Californica?
Ooooh, things are going to get dirty in Kali. Florida in 2000 was just a warm-up.

What did Dandy Don used to sing on Monday Night Football when some one was going down to defeat
......"Turn out the lights....the party over!......,
I that might be the most appropriate song for the end of Gray(out) Davis

what a hoot. The anti-recall petition has absolutely no LEGAL impact. It isn't any more important than a letter to the editor. The real test comes at the ballot box. Will all of those anti-recall folks come out to vote to support Joe Davis? How many of them are registered voters? We shall see.

Their goal was to make people
think they had signed the recall petition, and thereby cheat the recall campaign of signatures they could have procured.
The false petition looks remarkably like the real petition.

Did they circulate a Spanish language version of their petition?

The real question is, did they circulate an English version of their petition?

dueling petitions. the argument of equivalency.

I never saw the fake petition. Just reading the article, one would think that they had the enthusiastic support of people who wanted to oppose the recall.
I wear my RecallGrayDavis.com teeshirt on the weekends when I'm out and about, not soliciting signatures, but just in case someone wants to sign, I carry one with me. I've gotten a few signatures that way. Fortunately, I was never harrassed.

I saw a fake petition this past week while I signed a financial privacy initiative. Made it clear to the guy I wouldn't put my name on it. Anyways the libs are lying when they claim to have gathered a million signatures in three weeks what it took us nearly five months to accomplish. If there were a million people who loved Gray Davis, the bottom line is there would be NO recall election, period. Our opponents are if one may use a gentle expression, delusional.
