Gephardt can't get enough folks to have a meetup meeting Mon Jul 07 2003 18:33:31 ET
From: Gephardt in 2004 Meetup To: Subject: Your Gephardt in 2004 Meetup is Cancelled Date: Sun, 6 Jul 2003 18:08:35 -0400 (EDT)
Important
=================================================================
Unfortunately, less than 5 people confirmed that they'd attend the Washington, DC Gephardt in 2004 Meetup, so this month's Meetup is CANCELLED. (People prefer Meetups when at least 5 people confirm.) Help make it happen next month! See below.
=================================================================
Meetup is growing very fast, so please be patient while more Gephardt Supporters around Washington, DC (and everywhere) discover National Gephardt in 2004 Meetup Day.
What you can do now:
1. Help spread the word for next month: * Tell friends about http://gephardt2004.meetup.com/ * Post flyers around town: http://gephardt2004.meetup.com/flyer/ * Tell good websites about http://gephardt2004.meetup.com/share/ 2. Check to see if there's a Gephardt in 2004 Meetup happening this month in another city near you: http://gephardt2004.meetup.com/
3. Get involved with Gephardt in 2004 Meetups in other ways while waiting for more local Gephardt Supporters. See http://gephardt2004.meetup.com/plus/
4. Explore http://www.meetup.com/ There are Meetup Days everywhere on 1000+ topics. Tell friends and family!
Thanks for your patience!
We hope that you, your friends, your family, and your neighbors have good Meetups.

Dickie can't turn out FIVE supporters in D.C.? Hell, does that mean that he can't even get his own campaign staff to show up? LMAO!

LOL! I think some more FReepers should join and start having Al Sharpton meet-ups. Ooh, or John Edwards in my 'hood.
What do you think, y'all?

You mean to say he cannot even scare up 5 people to meet with him??? This alleged campaign is becoming a bigger farce than Sharpie Sharpton.

The big news in this story is not Gephardt's doomed candidacy but rather the grassroots momentum of left-wing lunatic Howard Dean. Here is meetup.com's top 15 list of candidate "meetup" members. This is terrific news in that all this energy is being expended on a chump with no chance in a general election - it's as if Nader was the Democratic front runner.
Top Topics in Candidates
1) Dean in 2004 (>58,700 members)
2) Kerry in 2004 (>5,300)
3) Clark in 2004 (>3,700)
4) Kucinich in 2004 (>900)
5) Edwards in 2004 (>900)
6) Bush2004 (>600)
7) Gore2004 (>500)
8) Gephardt in 2004 (>200)
9) Lieberman in 2004 (>100)
15) Blair Hull for Senate (2)

Let's schedule our own "meetups" on FR!
Actually, it would be fun to have Al Sharpton meetups. My position: "Tawana for campaign chair!" "Tawana for campaign chair!" "Tawana for campaign chair!" "Tawana for campaign chair!"

I've just discovered a really fun past-time. Go to meetup.com and volunteer to "host" Dean meetings in various cities. Then when contacted send the Demwits to the "good" parts of town, where they can see the results of their social projects up close. I need help though, I'm running out of inventive spots and I only know so many areas. One Demwit actually fell for this three times.
I know I'm evil, but dangit its so much fun.
Recently I've added a twist. When they start catching on I try to win them over to backing Sharpton. It's stirring together two ant hills.
