Three Republicans file papers to challenge Dodd

(Hartford-AP, July 14, 2003 6:11 AM) _ Three Republicans have stepped forward to challenge Connecticut's senior senator in 2004.

Miriam Masullo of New Canaan, Paul Streitz of Darien and William Bentley of North Haven have all filed papers with the Federal Election Commission to challenge Democratic Senator Chris Dodd.

The three have a tough road ahead of them. Dodd has served four terms in the Senate and has almost two million dollars already for his re-election campaign.

But Dodd's challengers say they're not daunted by his political experience.

Bentley, who manages a Taco Bell in Wallingford, says his lack of political experience is an asset. He says he can relate to the common person who struggles paycheck to paycheck.

50,000 people go to a baseball game, but the game was rained out. A refund is then due. The team is about to mail refunds when the Congressional Democrats stopps them and decrees that they send out refund amounts based on the Democrat National Committee's interpretation of fairness. After all,if the refunds are made based on the price each person paid for the tickets, most of the money would go to the wealthiest ticket holders. That would be unconscionable!

I saw the replay on C-SPAN2 last night with Dick Morris talking about his book Off With Their Heads. Morris said that, in his opinion, three people were responsible for the Enron/Arthur Andersen scandal: 1) Phil Gramm (who declined to run again), 2) Chris Dodd, and 3) Bill Clinton.

Only Dodd is still in power.

Miriam Masullo is pro-CFR,
Paul Streitz is very anti-NAFTA

The choices are John McCain or Pat Buchannan or the Taco guy. I'll take Paul Streitz until I find out more about the Taco guy.

Forget about nominating a conservative, let's draft Chris Shays! Get him out of the House already! We can elect a real Republican in his district, which is the most Republican in the state. And if Shays somehow beats Dodd, Shays would prove to be good for at least one thing. I think God put everyone on this planet for a reason; maybe Shays is supposed to defeat Chris Dodd and then live out the rest of his life as an annoying Senate RINO. I know, it would be nearly unbearable to see Shays's smug face in the Senate, but I'll take his 40 ACU rating over Dodd's 4 (or whatever it is) any day.

Forget it, you'll NEVER unseat *Christopher The Dudd*!

You can try, but I assure you, Dudd is too entrenched.

Shays is the best shot you have at dislodging this Slug, but if Shays thought Dudd could be defeated, he would already be running against him.

You could also consider running John Rowland against Dudd, but the Problem is that Rowland will probably be MORE Liberal than Dudd is right now.

This is called "kicking someone upstairs." My late father once did that -- voted for a state representative to be lieutenant governor to get him out of the rep.'s position. People have voted for county commissioners for higher postions just to get them off the county governing boards.

I like your strategery. Shays is one of my least favorite Repubs, but taking power away from Daschle/Hillary is a good thing.

She thought about running against Shays in the primary but was afraid she's lose her livlihood with such a long campaign. Then she thought about running in the general as a Libertarian in order to throw the election to a rat but was put off by their pro-drugs stance.
