We are in Tom Green county Texas, have been doing this the last five years. More local parties should run with this idea. Serves as a combination fun day, fund raiser, and by going with the off season, even a little out of the way part of the state can get some surprisingly big names to come and speak briefly, press the flesh, and actually meet people in a relaxed atmosphere.

Say, where is the so-called 'heat' that everybody tells me is so fearsome and would mely my very bones? Here it is, the middle of July, and things are much the way I am used to from New York -- Mid to upper eighties and quite agreeable humidities.
I grant you your rainstorms are a touch more fierce....

It's been a cool summer due to all the rain. Mid-90's for most of July is more common. Or at least it was in the drought years.
Ping me some time if you want to do a "happy hour" on your way home. And BTW, FReepers .45man and dansangel live nearby, as well.

I've lived here most of my 36 years, and I don't remember a cooler summer.
Atlanta's first 90 degree of the year, one of the latest ever.
By June, we usually see day after day of 94+ with 75%+ humidity.
Consider yourself lucky.

Consider yourself lucky. Either that or I am personally affecting Georgia weather so that it more closely mirrors that of my native New York.
You're welcome.

However, the cooler weather has not subsided my beer consumption one bit.

It's easier to get to Publix in cooler temperatures.
