Governors' Groups Fork over $1.6 Million in Mississippi Contest

Millions of dollars from homemakers to business executives have been rolling in for major gubernatorial candidates Ronnie Musgrove and Haley Barbour, but their most generous friends this year seem to be the governors' associations.

Collectively, the associations have forked over $1.6 million for Mississippi, one of only three gubernatorial races in the country.

"We absolutely know that the national Democrats would love to defeat Haley Barbour to try to embarrass President Bush, especially because Haley is a former (Republican National Committee) chairman," he said.

Great talking point. Let everyone know who the real winners and losers will in this race if Musgrove wins. I hope Haley Barbour really campaigns hard on state and national issues. He can't allow the Democrats to claim to be moderate-conservatives like Mike Parker did.
