Dear god. Bad guys could do very bad things with all those.

Beware of swarthy males with badges.

You got that right. This is why it's important to require ID from a peace officer _before_ allowing them into your home. Once they provide said ID, call your police department and request verification that said officer(s) at your door are legitimate.

Don't worry about ticking off the peace officer. Unless they have an arrest warrant, a search warrant, or "justifiable cause," the citizen is perfectly within their rights to keep them waiting on the doorstep.

I found the above while looking for one of my posts a while back, and the whole site it was on was quite weird. The domain name caught my attention because it looks like the sort of name spammers use. The interesting thing is that it wasn't long after I saved the page that it turned into something totally unrelated to FBI badges, more typical spammer stuiff like supplements and viagra, but the page names of course still the same and quite inappropriate for the subject. Then I goofed and filed the thing away in the wrong folder and when JohnHuang2's article popped up here I went looking for it- no dice. So I saved this thread. Now I've found the cached page I saved in my files and here it is.

Unfortunately I can't find this domain anymore. It's deleted, I reckon. Does anyone have a way to look up the owners of domains that have long ago gone belly up and haven't been renewed?

I wouldn't know how to get that information online. Seems you would have to call one of the listing companies to see if they could answer your question from their archives.

Thanks for replying. I'm trying to find the file where I wrote up what I did manage to dig up on the domain that night. It was interesting, which is why I kept this thread since it was posted here.

Ha. Here it is. I found what I wrote up back then. Nevermind the reference to mansoorah.com. The registrant using a woman's name is right. Maybe some of this is still floating around...

Did a search on s0zf.com and came up with this:

... at least one link , to http://fbi.icritias.biz , also draws attention. A whois search on icritias.biz brings forth some obviously fake info, suggesting that the owner is some sort of run of the mill pervert.

http://fbi.icritias.biz which is "apparently" registered to an alias

It's also registered as neulevel.biz

There's some weird stuff on the web...

Hmmm, this is a hoot. 32 Prospect Street, Norwalk Connecticut is Morningside Gardens Apartments. It managed to get a "nice review" on the web:

Opinion: WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE!
From: KEIKEI620 Date: 7/11/2002

LIVED HERE FOR THREE YEARS, RENT CHECKS WERE STOLLEN FROM DROP BOXES, NIEGHBORS ARRESTED EVERY OTHER NIGHT FOR FIGHTS, HEAT PUMPS OUT AT 100 DEGREES, EVEN IN THE SUMMER!

Overall recommended: No

Years at this apartment: 1997 - 2000

I guess FBI, fire dept, police ID and so on would be useful for people who were swiping checks.

NY POST.com: "NYPD BLUE SAFETY SNAFU" by Murray Weiss (ARTICLE SNIPPET: "A dozen high-tech, blank NYPD security identification cards used to gain access to the nerve center of Police Headquarters have been missing for months, The Post has learned. Four of the missing cards were found on the sidewalk near Ground Zero by a person attending Thursday's somber 9/11 ceremonies. The civilian handed them over to an auxiliary transit cop around 9:30 p.m., and that officer turned them in to police brass, sources said. An NYPD police spokesman acknowledged that a "small amount" was missing from a shipment of 20 boxes each containing 500 sequentially numbered blank security cards.")
