Beautifully put. And wasn't it Marx who said that "religion" is the opiate of the masses?" Oh contraire mon-fraire (sp). If anything, socialism is the opiate of the masses. There isn't a more diabolical "religion" that creates mass dependence on someone or something.

Ann Coulter mentions in her book that Whitacker Chambers stated that communism was going to win over democracy if the US did not become more spiritually involved in the battle, that communists were deep believers in their philosophy and the US public were simply complacent participants in democracy. (very roughly paraphrased) She goes on to state that Ronald Reagan took this to heart and decided that a religious and patriotic revival, a return to the country's roots was needed. This is when he changed parties and started plans to run for president.
