Back when this was being aired 1,000 times a day I made a tape and viewed it in slow motion. When the cop had the "child" handcuffed and was turning him toward the car, the kid suddenly went limp and the cop was thrown off-balance with the sudden dead weight. It looked like he hauled the kid up and slammed him on the trunk to keep them both from crashing to the ground.

As for the kid grabbing the cops privates, slow motion also showed the cop making the kind of grimace one makes when in pain.

That was my perception of it anyway, but you had to have watched it in slow motion to find the nuances.

It should also be noted that there was another video from the service station's camera that we were never shown -- I always wondered why we didn't get to see it, but maybe the jury did.

Well, regardless (and it's been interesting to read the different versions of this story because I wasn't familiar with it at all)--anyway, it's likely to be a hot time in the old town tonight!! And maybe longer. May cool heads prevail.

Don't you just love the way "black motorist" always precedes Rodney Kings name.....just a sweet, innocent guy out for a Sunday drive. *Sigh....*

I didn't even think they should have been charged with anything. Please!!!! Stop the BS. Cops have a tough job, he lost his cool, fine him or suspend him for a week without pay and have him take a class if you want. I am livid that he was fired!!! Is the ACLU running our country???

I hear talk out here (Southern California's my location) that the officer may now be re-hired; otherwise, he'll be entitled to pursue his own "grievance procedure" with the Inglewood PD or file his own suit, etc. I also hope this verdict makes the civil suit filed by the punk and his father go south.

Won't matter if he isn't convicted by a jury of his peers, as ticked off as the black community is about this stuff, he'll end up getting capped somewhere in the neighborhood while on duty.

Really? So you'd see a dead cop as a proper exchange for a punk who got a little taste of his own medicine a year ago?

I'll tell you what really got "capped" long ago: the image of LA as a "multicultural" showcase for "diversity." Go hang out in Inglewood yourself, if you don't believe me.

Now he is going to be retried!!! The DA says the community
deserves a retrial as a way of saying thank you for not rioting!!! Can't we do something about this?

Leave it to a LA County DA like Steve Cooley to take the politically correct course of action. It could be that they're trying to force a plea bargain on a lesser charge--some misdemeanor that will enable the DA's office to claim a conviction.

I noticed Morse's attorney is John Barnett, a lawyer active in the Orange County Bar and one who's made a name for himself defending cops on charges like these. John's one of the best lawyers around, and the only way I can think of to help is maybe start a defense fund to help John do the best job he can for Officer Morse.

I like your defense fund idea. At least the officer would know there were people out here on his side.
