Creepy. Didn't we read about a lot of odd folks filming ferries on the West Coast a few months ago?

"...Also Tuesday, Turkish security officials said they were investigating reports that two Tunisian-born Canadians suspected of al-Qaida membership might be in Turkey.
Newspapers identified the two men as Abderraouf Jdey and Abdelaziz Boussora. Jdey is reportedly an alias for Al Rauf bin Al Habib Bin Yousef al-Jiddi, who was recently identified by Attorney General John Ashcroft as one of five men whose video-recorded messages promising to carry out suicide attacks were found amid rubble in Afghanistan.
U.S. and Canadian embassy officials said they were aware of the reports but would not provide further information..."
Probably on a little jaunt from Qaeda's new Afghanistan - Iran.

Yep, that would be up here near Seattle. I'm racking my brain trying to remember which one it was on. Maybe the Kingston ferry.
But knowing the people around here, if he showed up in that garb we would have a drum circle in his honor, railing against the western oppressors.

Michelle Malkin writes about Jdey/al-Jiddi more than a few times...
http://www.townhall.com/columnists/michellemalkin/mm20030418.shtml "...While Chretien golfs, another fellow countryman and suspected terrorist, Al Rauf Bin Al Habib Bin Yousef Al-Jiddi, also remains on the loose. Al-Jiddi is a Tunisian-born Canadian citizen from Montreal who vowed to become a martyr in the "war against the infidels." The suicide threats were recorded on a videotape found at an al Qaeda safehouse in Afghanistan owned by bin Laden's military chief, Mohammed Atef.
Al-Jiddi has been linked to a Canadian-based al Qaeda cell that included Ahmed Ressam, the Algerian terrorist plotter nabbed by U.S. Customs officials at the Canadian border in Washington state with a car full of explosives intended for use in a bombing attack at Los Angeles International Airport during the millennium celebration. Tunisian-Canadian Faker Boussora, an associate of Al-Jiddi's, also remains a fugitive.
While Chretien golfs, counterterrorism officials estimate that al Qaeda has roughly 75 operatives still on the loose in Canada and that the country remains an operations base for at least 50 different international terrorist organizations -- many of whose members have gained Canadian citizenship thanks to Chretien's chronically lax refugee and asylum policies.
While Chretien golfs, Canada remains a magnet for jihadists and a breeding ground for anti-American terrorism. Yet, the Bush administration is now planning to exempt Canadian citizens from our federal law requiring a system to track all entries to and exists from the U.S. by 2005. The Globe and Mail reports that "The Chretien government has lobbied hard for such an exemption, saying it is needed to keep people and commerce flowing freely across the border."
Chretien has undermined America's national security efforts every step of the way. Why do we continue to serve as caddies for his terror-friendly agenda?

That link says some were captured, and rumors that Jdey was in Turkey.
Not surprising. The AQ, especially the non-Pakistani elite, fled to Iran. To get to the West an Iranian would naturally go through Turkey.

Right link.
I guess the Turks just knew that they'd entered the country. On Canadian passports. Interesting.

Would be extremely easy to commandeer a Staten Island ferry and take it right into New York Harbor or the Brooklyn Bridge. I was just on the Staten Island ferry last weekend and there is ZERO security there. It is packed during rush hours too. The terminal is pretty far from anything, but a bunch of ragheads with high-powered explosives on one of the boats could do some damage and kill a lot of people.

According to the Canadian Broadcasting Corp., Jdey lived in Montreal for several years, although Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien said the man no longer was in Canada. I feel better now Jean has said there is nothing to worry about..
