McClintock Campaign Launch - Letter from John Feliz, Campaign Manager
McClintock for Governor (via E-mail) ^ | 08/07/2003 | John Feliz

A Message from Campaign Director John Feliz

For those who can’t be with Senator McClintock at his campaign kick-off tonight, let me update you on the campaign. It has been a VERY exciting 24 hours!

While the media buzzes about the celebrity candidate, the REAL news has come on the Democrat side. The national Democrats, the California Democrat Party, ALL of the major labor unions and, of course, Governor Davis himself have known for weeks that there was ONLY one way for this unpopular governor could survive the recall on October 7th. He had to run alone against only Republicans. Most Democrat political observers agreed that if ANY major Democrat filed to replace Davis, Gray’s support would collapse. Under these circumstances, the experts believed that chances for Gray Davis to survive the recall question would be nil.

This morning not one, but TWO major Democrats entered the race, Lt. Governor Cruz Bustamante and Insurance Commissioner John Garamendi. The bottom-line is that this means Gray Davis’ political career will be over on October 7th. Done. Toast.

The only question left now is who will be the next Governor of California!

It looks like Senator McClintock is best positioned to be that man. He is not a millionaire, but you know he has the best message. And he has the biggest base of support...YOU!

Senator McClintock is the only candidate with the plan. Senator McClintock has twenty years of experience and the ability to implement that plan. The response to what he would do in just the first few hours – car tax, workers compensation, and energy contracts - has been overwhelming. Our job now is to make sure more and more California voters hear about his plan.

We ask you to continue doing two simple things: pass along our new web site to all your friends. Encourage them to read Tom’s message and encourage them to join the team at www.TomMcClintock.com.

We are just 61 days away from victory!

John Feliz, Campaign Director
McClintock for Governor

Thanks for the post. Our "conservative" need to understand Mr. Schwarzenegger's positions a little better BEFORE they will see that the true conservative in this race is Tom McClintock

You mean a pro-gay, pro-gun control, pro-abortion, social program loving candidate isn't a conservative? After reading today's threads I was beginning to get the impression this is the new face of the Republican Party.

No wonder the Dems love this guy.

You forget the one word that separates Arnold from McClintock and the rest of the crowd at this time

***ELECTABLE***

There are over 10% more Democrat voters than Republicans.
At this time McClintock is unelectable and if Arnold doesn't run you get another Democrat.

Voter fraud estimates meet or exceed that 10%.

Well then he is a business oriented Dem that will make a priority to bring businesses back to California.

Good for him in any case and he is about the closest thing Republican which is electable.

I will tell you why we need Tom in the race: to keep Arnold honest and because he's the ideal back up candidate who can win in the event the Terminator loses steam.

There is no backup candidate that could win at this time.

It will be Arnold or a Democrat.

I take nothing away from McClintock in being a good man, but it is his fault that he never has done what it takes to make a name form himself with ALL Voters.

Most won't even have a clue about who he is and probably has only a 10% name recognition effectiveness throughout the state.

If not for John and Ken of KFI, he would have only a 3% recognition factor.

And if we don't elect a true conservative then this state falls further into the black hole. Finally someday we WILL elect a true conservative who will clean the mess up. Maybe this isn't the right time. But don't shove down me another RINO. This recall is also about borders, language, culture, spending cuts & LESS government. I don't see Ahnold on any more than one of these issues.

I saw the speeches from Sacramento on C-SPAN a few days ago on the day after the announcement that the recall effort had succeeded. Two things really stood out to me, living in Florida:

1. There were 2 millon signatures submitted at the time of the Recall Rally.

2. Tom Mc Clintock's speech. He was hands down the most effective, most motivational of all of the speakers that day and there were more than a dozen. I had never heard him speak before and knew of him only from the Recall effort. If I could vote there it would be for McClintock, no doubt about it.

..and wasn't Riodian a shoe in as the pubbie nominee? Wasn't Ventura laughed at the weeks before his election? Further back wasn't Reagan discounted? Ever read the story about how Tommy Thompson won his governors race? The REAL question here on this site is do you really want a conservative in office? If so forget the domesayers & go campaign for Tom. Or sit on your butt & accept mediocracy at best. Ever think why this recall is even happining?

You have no concept regarding getting what you want in steps when getting everything is impossible.
Your way of thinking will doom us to constant failure.

This recall was about a real crappy governor that needed to be taken out of the office by the people because he is bleeding the state dry.

If you want to go back to the Simon issue, I told everyone here I would vote for him but that HE WOULD LOSE BIG!

We don't need another unelectable Simon in McClintock.
Better we elect the electable and get started on the road toward were we need to go rather than do it your way and be up to our necks in a sand trap.

"If you want to go back to the Simon issue, I told everyone here I would vote for him but that HE WOULD LOSE BIG!"

Uh, dude, he didn't lose big. What are you smokin' ?

"We don't need another unelectable Simon in McClintock."

And where is your proof he is unelectable ? Oh, yeah, the fact he got more votes than any other Republican last year for statewide office losing only because he was massively outspent and had a 3rd party Conservative ? That must be it. We don't support 'Rats masquerading as Republicans around here, so take Ah-nold and stick him up Babs Boxer's big fat ass.

And if Arnold runs you get another Democrat. So what. With that attitude, eventually no conservatives will be allowed to run...ever.

You're not looking at things very clearly. As of now, there's enough Democratic and goofball (forgive any redundancy inherent in that phrase) dilution of the vote between Bustamante, Garamendi, Arnold, and the various flake candidates like Huffington, that with Issa out, and especially if Simon wisely decides not to run, a solid block of conservative votes remains in play. No one else in the race stands a chance of beating Arnold, so I have no worries about voting for McClintock.
