Anti-recall site Taxpayers Against the Governor's Recall needs an update
Taxpayers Against the Governors Recall ^

This is still on the Anti-recall Davis sponsored site...

"I will not participate in any way other than to urge voters to reject this expensive perversion of the recall process ... I ask that every good woman and man faced with this decision - Republican, Democrat or Terminator - to remember we are all Californians first. The will of many should not be set aside for the ambition of a few."

Lt. Governor Cruz Bustamante

It's said that a felon is one who commits a felony.

With that in mind, Cruz Bustamonte is an iron.

Is there any Californian out there who can answer this question...

If Grey Davis should decide that the cause were lost, could he not simply resign? Cruz Bustamente would then become Governor, would he not?

And then where would the recall be with no Grey Davis to recall?

Would it and the election not be dead letters- and a Democrat still in the Governor's chair?

This may seem far fetched to some, but it seems like a real possibility to me.

What do the Californans say about this?

If Gray Dufus were to resign...yes, Lt. Governor Cruz Bust-a-Move would be governor, at least till the recall election. It is too late to stop the recall, but his resignation would take away one reason for it, and...would probably mean that Cruz will be Governor. This is probably the best chance Democrats have in retaining the seat. Of coarse, even in this out of the way possibility (I believe Gray Dufus is so arrogent and deluded that he will stay and fight despite what all the polls say [it will get really dirty]), if there is any silver lining, it would give those "keep the dems in the pot" people that would continue the collapse of liberalism by being the example of what liberalism is all about.

But again, I don't see this happening only because Gray Davis is so deluded and power hungry that he wouldn't even consider resigning. If he did, it would only because every Democrat "forces" him to do so. With the support the union leaders along with their money, that seems unlikely.
