Another loser enters the race. If at first you run a crappy campaign, try, try again.

What happens if all 500 candidates tie with 1 vote apiece?

Bill Simon has about the same chance as Larry Flynt, Angeline, and Gary Coleman --- zero.

I would vote for Simon- he's the only one with the guts to deal with immigration.

Simon had his chance and couldn't beat a weakened Davis.

Why do you say looserville?

Because he is a Catholic?

Because he only lost to Davis by 5 points in the last election?

Because he showed up with his wife as well as his children for filing his papers.

Because he is the true conservative in this race.

Are you sure you have the facts??

Or are you just for Arnold?????

Arnold will get 50% of the Democrat vote, 50% of the independent vote and 50% of the Republican vote.

Slam dunk!!

**Simon had his chance and couldn't beat a weakened Davis.**

But he could win here. I doubt it with all the press that Arnold is getting, but Simon is the real conservative!!

He had his chance, but he blew it by conceding too early. One problem I have with Bill Simon is that he's stuck in this 1950s nice guy civility rut. If he does get elected, John Burton is going to cuss him out, and Simon will just stand there with that silly grin and not defend himself.

I would have voted for Simon last year, and would again if this were one-on-one. But he ran such a horrendous campaign, he's just wasting his time now. Even though he's a RINO, I'd support Arnold if I were in CA just to win the damn thing for a Republican; if they'd have fared better recently I might reconsider, but they haven't won anything recently and need a victory badly. As Ann Coulter has said, there's not a lot he's going to do with the social issues, and while he may have some goofy ideas about spending, he does want lower taxes and a business-friendly environment.

It's such a disappointment to see conservatives like Simon, Fong, and Lundgren "moderate" their conservative views instead of standing up like Alabama AG Pryor and Reagan. The goal is to convince people your views are correct, not adopt your views to perceived public sentiment. Voters like candidates who are confient in their views and comfortable in their own shirts. Changing/softening your beliefs makes one appear weak.

Most of us learn from our mistakes. Why don't you give him the benefit of the doubt? I don't pretend to know anything about CA or its politics, but, from what I have read, Simon is an honest and decent man.

Well go for it. But how about the Arnold, Ueberoth, Simon, and McClintock supporters agreeing to campaign for their candidate now, but if they are pretty clearly out of the running in the final week, agree to support either the frontrunner, or at least the frontrunning conservative or moderate that is closest to their candidates leanings. Thus in the end there is only 1 or 2 GOP candidates on election day.

Losing once is not enough, losing twice is Better!!

this will be Simon's motto!

sure, Simon almost beat Davis last yr - but then again, how can Davis win with just 40-42% approvals before the election in the first place! How many Simon votes were the vote against Davis in the first place.

Simon do have a place in cali gop politics - he serves as the signpost why his likes will NEVER get elected in that state..and if cali gop wants to be in the wilderness for the enxt decades to come, they can keep on electing the simonites.

NY GOP learned their lessons and tolerate a Pataki and a Rudy..why can't Cali GOP learn its lessons? California is NO Mississippi! Simon may win the Mississippi Governership, but in California, keep on dreaming...

What is Simon's proposed solution to the immigration disaster? If he had any sense (or guts) he'd make illegal immigration the primary focus of his campaign, and emphasize the fact that the state's financial problems are a direct result of it. We'll shortly see if he does.
