When folks say things like: "Why do you insist on calling it Grids?" I have to wonder if they've ever read anything on the subject.

Actually I've read quite a bit about the evolution of the battle against what was first called GRIDS and then later AIDS. One of the books on the subject that I assume you hated (if you read it) even though it has a wealth of information on the subject is "And the Band Played On".

I read it and have it, and thought it was full of information; I certainly didn't hate it. I also have and read After the Ball: How America Will Conquer Its Fear and Hatred of Gays in the 1990s by Kirk and Madsen, summarized here.
