Thanks for the long copy'n'paste - despite different strains, the fact is that a huge number of people in Africa practice anal sex, and are promiscuous. If they didn't do those two things, it wouldn't matter what strain or strains were prevalent.

Very recently, there were several long threads about this topic on FR and much information was presented about the transmission of AIDS in Africa. Even if one strain is more transmissable or virulent than another, if it isn't injected into one's bodily cavities one doen't get it.

Apparently there has been success in curbing AIDS in Uganda because they have been education people about chastity and monogamy.
