FOX-Sleaze vs. FOX-News : Conservatives Must Decide!
CFAA ^ | 8/13/03 | Timothy Chichester

PRESS RELEASE:     8/13/03, 4:16 PM

SUBJECT:               FOX-Sleaze vs. FOX-News : Conservatives Must Decide!

The Catholic Family Association of America (CFAA) issued a call to moral conservatives to fight the scheduled mainstreaming of pornography by Fox Broadcasting by hitting Rupert Murdoch where they have the most influence, the ad revenues of FOX-News.

In an article called The Music Man, appearing on the CFAA web site, president Timothy A. Chichester denounced the pending introduction of "Skin", a show designed to mainstream pornography under the guise of a Romeo and Juliet romance between a "good" pornographer's daughter and a "bad" LA district attorney's son.

Chichester blasted Jim Leonard, creator and executive producer of the program, who boasted that "We have a working porn director who is a technical adviser for us", for attempting to mainstream the ideas that the porn industry is a legitimate business and the walking cess-pool sludge who run it are really not just plain folk, but better than those that oppose them.

Citing Fox owner Murdoch as one who also thinks we really need a show that "glorifies and promotes the smut industry that has devastated more lives than we can ever imagine, while it undermines the very concept of moral self-control," the article goes on to observe: "Murdoch happily rakes in the cash from both sides of the cultural divide. In one hand he holds FOX-Sleaze and the other FOX-News. The first caters to the social liberals based on the proposition that the deeper the TV dumpster the bigger the bottom-feeder bucks to be hauled up. FOX-News caters to those who seek refuge from the nauseating reek of the pit. Wow, what a market straddle! What a two-headed money machine."

CFAA is asking that viewers let Murdoch know what they think of his attempts to use their minds "as his personal sewerage filtration plant" by turning off FOX-News for three days a week until Murdoch cancels "Skin".

Maybe. I don't think he'd go left, but he may tighten up a pretty loose ship.

Fox has no competitors in its segment. CNN, ABC, NBC, and CBS are all going after the left.

I can't watch FNC because of the cheesy Alerts that happen for no good reason, the fixation on a single, or maybe two topics all freaking day, etc. Thank God they hire anchors that are hot, or it would be completely unwatchable.

I started giving to JimRob because truly, this is the only place for concise news anywhere.

I'm pulling for FNC, and I'm glad they are selling to righties, but they need some help over there.

Obviously, NBC is neither directed at nor supported by conservative viewership. One can only apply pressure where one CAN apply pressure. That's why FOX News' conservative base can and should apply pressure where they CAN apply it.

We have none to apply with NBC because we don't watch their cable news nor their broadcast programming.

Pretty much Fox will float until they get competition, then they'll head for the open waters. If only one of the cable news networks head right Fox will either grab for that station's old territory (MSNBC is actually pretty neutral) or head extremely right. If they both head right though that'll leave the left wide open so he'd run there. I don't think Murdoch actually likes competing in the quality arena, he likes to position himself in unchallenged markets and take them over. He's a truly brutal business man.

Censorship in any form should not be endorsed.

1) How is what we are doing censorship?

2) Some forms of censorship must be and are endorsed. Ever see explicit sex on primetime network TV? That's censorship too. And I support it 100%.

From post #20 on that thread link:

Doesn't this photo seem a bit strange to accompany a supposedly unbiased reporting of facts though? I've never even seen Gibson smoke before this. Why would they pick that photo? It's about as unflattering as it could be. I think that was the intent. Gibson is being described as an old school Catholic in that he doesn't recognize some of the reforms.

Reuters has no love for Catholicism nor outspoken Catholics. All of us admit its a mainstream liberal media outlet. So why is the conclusion such a stretch of the imagination?

Only because it involves Catholicism, which is object of the last PC bigotry in America.

Forget the Boycott there is a brand new invention out

It's called A remote control, Believe it or not with this "Remote Control" you can actually change the channel to a channel more your taste. And if there is nothing on this marvelous new invention also allows you to actually turn the TV OFF!

Unfortunaetly it's not infallible, To make it work you first have to get rid of the guy holding a gun to your head making you watch all those sleazy Fox shows.

Since we do not have TV in our home, you're preaching to the choir.

Pornograpghy is a legitimate business? I guess it is legalized in most places, so in a purely legal sense it is legitimate. But...

Accusations of catholic bashing far out number any catholic bashing that goes on around here.

Notice, they don't have gay main characters on Fox.

Apparently, you don't watch the weekend version of "Fox and Friends."
