I did not see the post last week. I heard of this only on Tuesday morning via C-SPAN.
Hatch is always, it seems to me, trying to get liberals to say something nice about him so that he can say, "See, I'm not that bad: Look at all my liberal friends who like me."

Yes, I know that Specter cited "Scottish law" during the impeachment trial. "Scotch" is technically not the same as "Scottish." It seemed that Specter was looking for every loophole possible so that he would not "have" to vote for conviction. He knew that PA twice voted for Clinton, and he feared the wrath of liberal voters if he had supported conviction.
I mentioned "Scottish law" in connection with Hatch; meaning, Hatch may have been borrowing from Specter a way to help a liberal out of a tight spot.

During the impeachment trial, when we were watching Hatch to see what he would do, I remember reading one of the great political lines of all times....
"Don't count your Hatch before he chickens."
Classic and so true.

Whaddaya think Arnold should say if he ever meets the press and is asked whether the constitution should be amended to allow immigrants to run for POTUS?

You may have inadvertently given the left the ammunition it needs to get a naturalized citizen into the presidency. Anything biblical is anathema to the left, and millions of "moderates" and "Republicans" servilely follow the latest liberal fad usually wrapped up some way in a four-letter word: fair.

NO! I do not want to live under "President Granholm"!

He votes straight Republican, so how do you come to that conclusion? Hatch has supported some very odd things, especially of late. He wants to destroy the computers of people who "file share", among other things. I don't remember what else off the top of my head but every couple months there's another "has Orrin lost it completely?" moment.

You are correct that the District of Columbia cannot have representation. However, nothing in the Constitution dictates its borders. Arlington left the district. It is essentially part of Maryland. Congress could give the populated areas to Maryland, while keeping the downtown area and Capitol district in the District of Columbia.

Suggest all call 1-800-648-3516 to contact Sen. Hatch and let him know if you are opposed to the Equal Opportunity in Government Amendment which will allow naturalized citizens to be Pres or Vice Pres of U.S. He is sponsoring this Amendment.
To: tiamat
That was the first thing I thought of after "Hatch must
really like Arnold".
However it is of note that she only won by about 4 points after it was predicted she would win in a landslide.

Agree. Today, can't assume anything, especially with so many liberal judges making decisions that are adversely affecting our great country. Write or call Sen Hatch and let him know if you are opposed to his Amendment.
To: tiamat
point!
Moreover, I don't want to live under a notional President Hassan I Sabbah or Presindent Mao Tse Tung, such being long-term sleeper agents of regimes hostile to this and all other constitutional republics.

It makes him a Republican and a conservative. This is a conservative forum and deals with conservative issues (or did you overlook that fact?). Hatch may make some dumb statemnents, but he votes right, not left.

'has this man never heard of sleepers'
Exactly!! That's exactly what I told his office when I called at 1-800-648-3516 to let them know I was dead set against this Amendment.
To: Theodore R.
As I've said many times before, you can always count on Whorin' Atch to say something stoopid.
To: tiamat
does it not seem to you that about once a month, Hatch has a Tim Benzedrine Moment?

Hatch's proposal presumably would require a constitutional amendment. Presumably?

She didn't win with my help, let me tell you! I gritted my teeth and voted for posthumous, whom I dislike, in an effort to keep Granholm out of office!
