Anaheim, California-AP -- A string of injuries didn't stop the U-S women's team from striking gold at the World Championships in Anaheim, California.
The gold is the first for any American team at the worlds, men or women. It also gives the team a major boost as it heads into the Athens Olympics next year.
The margin of victory was just one-point-74 points over U-S women bag gold at Gymnastics Championships
the Romanians. Chellsie Memmel carried the Americans, who lost Annia Hatch and Courtney Kupets to injuries. Memmel was an alternate until being pressed into service late last week. She's now 8-for-8 on routines in the team prelims and finals.
Memmel on Wednesday didn't post a score lower than the nine-point-275 she made on the vault.
Australia won the bronze, edging China.

Lovely youngsters. But I guess I was thinking more along the line of..the ladies' NCAA gymnastics championships I saw on TV a few months ago :). I forgot how young these girls have to be to be physically capable of being an Olympian. Tough little waifs, they are.

Gymnastics is a very hard sport and for those girls to win after having strings of injuries shows that they have a lot of talent. I was a gymnast myself for 6 years, I was on the mens gymnastics team. I've won many awards, but I'm not here to talk about myself so I will end this post. Your friend, Garin. My email address is
