It's not that simple and you know it. Support a real, proven conservative and you'll get a conservative governor. Support Ah-nold and you'll get a liberal RINO.
We know where you come down: Republican first. Gop Uber Alles.

I'm just as conservative as you. You have two choices. Pick one.

Support a real, proven conservative and you'll get a conservative governor. You're dreaming. Support an unelectable proven conservative in the liberal state of California and you'll get another democrat (cruz) for governor.

In this race the guy you wish to win has no chance.
It is self defeating to go down with your perfect choice when you in effect are helping to elect Democrats.
This is the mentality that has given them power to begin with in CA and will keep them there for decades longer unless conservatives get smart and get with the situation.

Two parts there. As to the second, you're entitled to your view.
As to the first, though, the historical evidence is against you:
1982 Liberal GOP win (Deukmejian, having upset Mike Curb in primary)
1986 Liberal GOP win (Duke)
1990 Liberal GOP win (Wilson)
1994 Liberal GOP win (Wilson)
1998 Conservative GOP loss (Lungren)
2002 Conservative GOP loss (Simon)
The last arguably conservative governor of the state was Ronald Reagan, elected in 1966 and 1970 -- and Reagan signed a tax hike his first year in office.
