I remember it, but I am not sure if I am accurate. It was made in reference to his "surprise" visitor, a former shipmate who is now a minister (and just happened to have specific politically correct prayer all typed up to read). It was something about turning this into a Baptist revival or something like that. I did think it sounded rather condescending.

"This is a first for me, not just because of the occasion that it represents, but I have never in my life had the chance to talk to an audience of fluttering fans. And I kind of felt like I might just turn this into a good old Baptist revival, folks."
However, to his defense, he did say the words "fluttering fans" in a well enunciated, manly baritone befitting of a man who, by the way, served in Vietnam, even if he still looked French.
