No, he stayed in long enough, gave it his best shot. The time for McClintock to drop out is right after the Calfionria state convention.

I have posted the following on a few threads here... this event proves why we should hang on to those absentee ballots as long as we can before making a decision.

---------------------------------------------------

Attention California Freepers who plan on voting using Absentee Ballots.

A lot of things can happen over the next couple of weeks, so it is STRONGLY suggested that you hang on to your ballot until some of the smoke clears... I'm talking to the supporters of ALL the candidates!

This is a unique election... here's some scenarios that could play out:

- Uberroth bows out and throws his support to McClintock
- McClintock bows out and throws his support to Arnold
- Some REALLY nasty, nasty stuff comes out on Arnold that drops him off the bottom of the polls

You have some time to watch this play out... DON'T mail these absentee ballots yet!! Better yet, go vote at the polls! Even if you receive an absentee ballot, you can still vote at the polls so long as you don't mail it in and surrender it to the poll worker when you go vote. However, once you mail it in, you can't change your vote.

Not with Arnold saying something stupid like comparing Prop. 54 supporters to "right wing crazies". That was just dumb, and I'm one of the folks who wouldn't mind seeing him elected. Ward Connerly is not crazy.

Every candidate has that one day where you just know he took his a$$hole pill for breakfast.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

I wonder why he got in it in the first place. Anyone know of future plans of Peter's? I know the GOP bench is shallow, but he waited about 2 decades too long to try to get back into public life IMHO.

Be prepared for Democrats to charge that all of these Republicans dropping out of the race amounts to a GOP CONSPIRACY.

I can hear it now: "It's a plot!!!! They're going to narrow the field to one major Republican who will beat Bustamonte!!! It's a conspiracy!"

Mark my words.

Interesting. Ueberroth was certainly out of his element at the debate.

I wonder if it will take another two and a half weeks to get a poll after he withdraws, as it did after Simon's withdrawal?

Yah, it's depressing. Arnold makes a great stand on one issue then blows himself up with another.

Like you, I certainly wouldn't mind having him in---I think McC. cannot beat "large breasts." But this is what you get when you have Perot-type candidates who don't have a consistent ideology.
