I called my wife at work to tell her what had happened and told her to turn on her radio...thinking at that point that some pilot had lost control after takeoff.
When the second plane hit I was watching Fox News...I picked up the phone and called wifey again to tell her that we were under a terrorist attack and that we would be at war before long. Two planes is no accident.
It still seems surreal.
Strange Request. Is there any way of contacting someone who commented on the free republic site in 2003 regarding 9/11. It’s someone I used to know but lost contact with over the years. Just wondering if there was any way to help me out. This is a genuine request.
Thanks
I was driving to work, listening to “A Study In The Word” with Jimmy Swaggart.
Was driving to work, listening to the morning “free-for-all” chat. One participant on the show uncharacteristically was silent for a while, then informed us of the first airplane strike. I very nearly went home at that point, and should have on general principle (obvious what had happened). The second hit before I reached work; shoulda gone home then too. Kept up on the news during the day via web & TV. Got a call from a friend declaring a tower had collapsed; I looked at the TV, saw a column of smoke, and in a fit of cognitive dissonance said the building must merely be engulfed in smoke - was told otherwise soon thereafter. Went home, got “bug-out” supplies, came back, was subject to “security theater”, finished day, went home.
Wow ... this thread is back from the dead 6 years later.
After that, all we could do was watch the buildings burn and fall.
I wrote Holes in the Air on the second anniversary.

I was enroute back to the pistol range for my weapons qualifications, while driving the car I was listening to The radio,I think it was WABC out of New York City when the announcer broke in and reported that a plane had crashed into the World Trade Center.
I new right then and there that we were under a terrorist attack because the entire Northeastern U.S. was cool and clear. There was NO way a plane could have flew into that building by mistake. You could see for miles.
