Then by what right do they claim to be science? Physics is progressive but it rests, ultimately, on geometry, which provides it with a descriptive language. And that, despite some opinion, depends of believing what Plato said. I have been rading James Geick's short biography of Newton and he persuades me that Newton's physics is at bottom basic on the patterns that he observed from a very early age. His calculus was simply a result of his working out his view of the designs he saw. Of course he incorporated the mathematical developments of his age, but what he did is almost a straight trajectory of Euclid and the Greek geometers.
