They are attempting to refuse deomcracy to a Middle Eastern country. By bombing the hand that feeds them, the terrorists will earn the ire of the citizenry. But, it will probably be blamed on Bush..

A Reuters journalist said this?

Was he or she leaping for joy at the sight of the injured or just having an orgasm?

I hope the dead one turns out to be the animal who did this!

Prayers for all those who are injured.

Sadly, all these reports start out at one or two dead, then escalate exponentially to double digits and higher one the dust clears, literally.

I know .... :-(

It takes a while to get through the rubble for rescue and recovery.

This type of act is sooooo cowardly. These animals are thoroughly despicable!

Bomb Kills 2 at U.N. Compound in Baghdad

.c The Associated Press

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - A car bomb exploded Monday morning while the vehicle was being examined at a checkpoint as it tried to enter the U.N. compound, killing at least two people and injuring seven others, Iraqi police reported.

The blast occurred about 100 yards from the U.N. compound at the Canal Hotel, scene of a devastating car bombing last month that killed 23 people, including the U.N.'s top envoy in Iraq, Sergio Vieira de Mello.

The casualties of Monday's bombing appeared to be the driver and Iraqi police.

The blast, which could be heard over much of the Iraqi capital, took place two days before President Bush is expected to address the U.N. General Assembly and offer an expanded role in rebuilding Iraq, a condition set by many nations for contributing peacekeepers and money to the reconstruction effort.

Secretary-General Kofi Annan has made clear he wants assurances of security for U.N. personnel in Baghdad along with any expanded role.

The United Nations curtailed its efforts in Iraq after the Aug. 19 bombing. At the time of the attack, U.N. spokesman Fred Eckhard said there were about 300 international staff in Baghdad and more than 300 elsewhere in Iraq. These numbers are thought to have now been dramatically reduced.

After the bombing, about 20 U.S. military vehicles could be seen swarming around the compound, and the area in northeastern Baghdad was sealed off by Iraqi police. 09/22/03 01:40 EDT

A car bomb exploded Monday morning while the vehicle was being examined at a checkpoint

Why does the UN support checkpoints next to its building to protect its lives, while opposing Jews putting up checkpoints to do the same?

I bet the French are aiding resisters in some way. I say France is the enemy. They lose influence in the Arab world and they will shrink even more.

This was totally predictable.

21 September 2003

In 1981 the United Nations General Assembly passed resolution 36/67 declaring an International Day of Peace. In 2001, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a new resolution 55/282 declaring 21 September of each year as the International Day of Peace.
