Kansas Gets Its Own Gray Davis

Here's what the good people of Kansas get for electing a leftist Democrat as governor: their very own version of Gray Davis to abet the state's foreign criminals.

Gov. Kathleen Sebelius has threatened (or, as the P.C.-crazed Wichita Eagle puts it, "promised") to work at letting illegal aliens receive driver's licenses and, unlike American citizens from other states, pay lower in-state tuition.

At a weekend powwow sponsored by the Wichita Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, participants urged Sebelius to find ways to bring more Spanish-language classes to the state for those who refuse to learn English and to pressure more banks to allow lawbreaking illegal aliens to open checking accounts.

The vote-greedy guv pledged to do their bidding.

If Sebelius gets her way, the GOP-controlled Legislature will be her accomplice. Last year the state House of Representatives passed a bill to reward foreign criminals with lower tuition, but the Senate did not.

Sebelius is the daughter of the former OH liberal Democrat governor John J. Gilligan. KA defeated the conservative Republican candidate in 2000 when RINO voters refused to support him.

I watched that election and was sorely disappointed when the conservative voters failed to support the Republican candidate.
The conservatives basically let the demoncRAT win by default.
Looks like the chicken is coming home to roost.

Correction, the KA governorship turned Democrat in 2002, not 2000. The previous governor was a very liberal Republican named Bill Graves.

Kansas was in the business of granting driver's licenses before our new RAT was elected Gov.

It was probably under the socialist Republican Gov. Graves that this policy began, although I have as yet been unable to pin down exactly when it began.

I hope to get a class-action lawsuit going against the State for granting driver's licenses to those the State of KS knows for a fact are not here illegally, even to those illegals who never intend to reside in KS!

Y'all won't believe this but her brother-in-law is my KS attorney. Honest.

I think State Representative Tom Klein (D-Wichita) got this ball rolling during the 2002 session. It didn't go anywhere because Gov. Graves said he would veto it. It came up for a vote this time because our new governor said she would sign it. Luckily the Senate stopped it.

So according to you guys, both conservative and RINO voters failed to support the GOP candidate. Did he get like, 10 votes?

No, we presume that the conservatives supported Tim Schallenberger, the state treasurer and Republican candidate for governor of KA in 2002. It was liberal Republicans who refused to back him; they either sat out the contest or voted for Democrat Sebelius.

D*mned glad I got my family out of KS!

Cav,

Sorry to have abandoned the fight. Maybe the people of Kansas will wake up in 2006. After of course paying more property taxes, state taxes, tuition increases, fuel taxes and whatever else govenor Kathy can think up. All the while she is raising your taxes she'll encourage more illegal aliens to come in and take the jobs that are available.

So Cav, when are you and the Cav family moving to Texas?

Shallenburger was a very good canidate, unfortunately he was outspent in the general election about 8 to 1. If I remember correctly Sebelius spent about 4 million to Shallenburger's 500K. Shallenburger spent all his money in the primary and couldn't get his message out during the general election. The republican national commitee said they were going to put 1 million into his campaign but it never materialized, the Kansas governorship seemed completely off the radar screen outside the state. It was a close election and if Shallenburger had sufficient funds I'm confident he would have won. Now we're stuck with Sebelius, at least we got a good AG in Phil Kline.

Shallenburger would have made a great governor. I was very disappointed to see him lose. I think what cost him the election was the sucess the demoRats had at portraying his as an "extreme" conservative. I know there were a lot of "moderate/RINO" republicans who crossed over and voted for the communist Sebelious.

I remember seeing alot of "Another Repulican for Sebelious" signs in Douglas county. D*mned fools if you ask me. I hope they're happy paying higher taxes.

Don't forget to thank former Governor Graves. When he finally got around to endorsing Shallenburger, he gave the most lukewarm endorsement I have ever heard. I would be willing to bet when he pulled the curtain closed, Graves voted for Sebelius.

Graves is a worthless excuse for a human being.

I went to a debate between him and Tom Sawyer who was running for governor on the democratic ticket in 96.

After listening to his responses, (particularly about concealed carry) I went up to him after the debate and let him know that this life long Republican was going to vote democrat for governor that year.

By the way, I think Tom Sawyer is still in the senate and he was/is? a big supporter of CCW. Maybe the legislature can run a CCW bill up and override a Sebelious veto.

Tom Sawyer supports CCW??? That's a shock. He's as lefty as they come on most issues.

I heard Gary Sherrer on a radio program say he didn't support Shallenburger in the general.

I am from Johnson Co. Love the area, go back every year to visit.

It just kills me to see the effects of Illegal Immigration on the area. The businesses where my friends and I worked while going through High School and College now employ non-english types from mexico exclusively. The apartments we moved to when we could finally afford to move out are now all slums with junk cars and trash.

I used to think when I retire I would move back. Not anymore.

When I talked to Tom regarding CCW in 96 he said he was one of the authors of the bills and fully supported it.

Keep in mind this was in 96. He may have shifted since then.

Hey I really like that screen name. That wouldn't happen to refer to a pretty fair ballplayer that came out of Commerce would it?
