Kelsey Grammer Eyeing Senate Run
Newsmax ^ | Tuesday Sept. 23, 2003

Top-rated TV star Kelsey Grammer announced Monday night that he would like to quit show business and enter politics - perhaps as Senator from California.

"I've always thought that since I did not serve in the military and since I was raised by a military man, my grandfather, that we all have an obligation to try to perform some service to the country," the "Frasier" star told Fox News Channel's "Hannity & Colmes."

"And the only thing I can think of is to attempt maybe a political office at some point in my life," Grammer added.

When it came to concrete plans, the sitcom star sounded vague, but suggested he'd like to serve as "senator of whatever state I was living in." Grammer now resides in California.

The NBC star said he'd likely run as a Republican, though he's not a conservative. "I consider myself a centrist, I suppose, but I basically believe in trying to preserve as much opportunity for the individual, as long as that individual chooses to work as hard as he can."

Grammer said he has long secretly harbored political ambitions, telling "Hannity & Colmes," "I used to say that I wanted to be president when I was a boy."

As far as his long-running hit TV series "Frasier," Grammer said that this year would be its last.

On Tuesday, Hannity announced that Grammer would reprise his TV role as a talk radio host by filling in on the Fox talker's nationally syndicated radio show sometime next week.

This IS Kelsey "flip my Viper while I'm drunk" Grammar, isn't it? I think he was busted only twice for cocaine possession, so he should have a good shot at Senator....on West Wing.

So what if he's a coke fiend? I drink Pepsi all the time.
Also, as a Californian, I'd say that he fits into our politics very well (I liked Reagan and just voted abstentee for Arnold by the way). In fact, I would say we need MORE NON LAWYERS running for office -- Democrats, Republicans, Liberals, Conservatives or Don't Knows. Actors..Ok. Wrestlers...OK. Proctologists...Ok. IRS auditors....weellll, in that case there should be a limit...

We now have two East Coast wealthy liberal shrews as CA senators. I would welcome Kelsy's candidacy.
I find it nice that the Left created rampant celebrity worship, and now some of those celebrities appear capable of turning on them and helping to turn the cultural corner. Let's see what this guy has to offer.

Absolutely right, Moodyskeptic. We need all the help we can get from any quarter, especially in the Hollywood environs. You know, it's really starting to bug me all the Freepers who are so holier than thou, and think that no one can have had a moral lapse at any point in their life, and therefore are not worthy of being Pubs. We'll eliminate 7/8th's of the American population that way. Let he who is without sin. My humble opinion is, if someone has cleaned up their act, and is bright enough to see that the Republicans, and their philosophy, is the right way to fly, for heaven sakes, let them fly. When I was young, I was an idiot. I'm not now. Jesus forgave whores, and took them in. Once on the right track, those who have had an earlier "wild" life invariably clean up their act, once they see the light. That's good. Welcome them. Let them be on the "right" side. And can some of the gratuitous criticism. It's not useful to the cause.

Wow! a sane post amid all the RINO sky is falling posts from out of state. Most of us would consider replacing Barbara Boxer as a plus.

Another Kennedy Republican infiltrator
this one a wet brain to boot..

Calls himself a "centrist" does he?

Nice enough name for another fifth columnist

The dems have found a neat way to take over the nation
just become republicans and call yourselves "moderates" or "centrists"

the media only cares about being next to anyone famous...as it does
what media is supposed to do...

Deliver an audience to the advertisor....

I didn't realize the city of Los Angeles was out-of-state. But I'm not staying, so I really don't have a dog in this fight.

Choose your representation as you see fit. Best of luck.

Kelsey Grammer; excuse me, but am I wrong? Wasn't there a little fiddling around with an underage girl in his past? Some sexual scandal? Can't be all that long ago. Anyone???

I would prefer to not have to move but I could be not for long if the jobs climate changes. I'm currently going against the crash and burn strategy but if I was leaving maybe I'd be for it. I also know that many states would gladly accept the CA businesses even if it meant accepting Californians.

Don't worry folks, that loud crash you just heard was only the Arnoids falling all over each other to chase after the newest Hollywood star.

If Arnie gets elected, every Michael Bloomberg politician will stick an "R" on their forehead and jump on the RHINO party.

Grammer has some very dicey episodes in his past. I believe he had a murdered sister, lots of parental strife, serious trouble with drugs, and, most problematically perhaps, his half-brother (or possibly full brother, I'm not sure) made an ugly allegation about some kind of inappropriate sexual advance Grammer made on him.

Wasn't there a little fiddling around with an underage girl in his past?...I think he stood trial and was found not guilty...

During the interview Grammer said he disliked the amount of "hate speech" in politics today and wouldn't want to hold office if it meant he would have to defend himself from attacks by opponents and engage in counterattacks - lots of luck on that one........
