Why They Won?t Help Us

In a speech at the United Nations on Tuesday, President Bush asked the world to "contribute greatly to the cause of Iraq [sic] self-government." But, the world just shrugged its shoulders and walked away.

Why won't they help us?

Europe, especially France, Germany, and Russia, won't help because Europe has not felt threatened by Iraq. Nor, does Europe foresee any future threat from Iraq or the international Islamic militants. The reason: they have maintained good relations with not only all the Arab/Muslim nations, but, unlike President Bush, have actively supported the Palestinian cause and Yasser Arafat, the Palestinian President.

This European friendship with the Arab/Muslim nations, as well as their support for the Palestinians, goes over big among the Islamic militants. Islam - especially radical Islam -- sees Europe as its friend.

And, so, the cold political calculation has been made in Europe-- why pick a fight with the Muslims on behalf of Bush?

A similar cold, political calculation has been made by the Arab states in the Middle East - but, for a different reason. The Arabs do not believe that America can win in Iraq.

There was never any doubt in their minds that Bush would check in -- quickly. But, they also knew that he could not check out as easily. The intense anti-American feelings of the Arab people, in particular, and the Muslim people, in general, would ensure that.

It's an anti-Americanism fostered, on the one hand, by our one-sided support of Israel, and, on the other, by the insolence with which President Bush and his cohorts have ridden roughshod over the sensibilities of these Arab states. Now, with Bush stuck in Iraq, it?s their turn to twist the knife.

These Arab states are not only not helping Bush in Iraq, but, worse, they are actively working for his defeat -- quietly helping the Islamic militants who are rushing into Iraq from all over the world ?to kill Americans.? These Arab states would much rather see Iraq as America?s Gaza Strip than an America-style democracy.

Nor, is American-style democracy a popular idea in Pakistan, the Muslim state that President Bush counted on most in his war against international Islamic militancy. Today, despite almost $5 billion in debt relief, economic aid, and trade concessions, Pakistani President General Pervez Musharraf?s whole-hearted commitment to America's war in Iraq and Afghanistan is largely in doubt.

Pakistan has refused to send troops to Iraq. Pakistan's argument: it cannot send its Muslim troops to fight other Muslims.

Nor, has Pakistan closed its border with Afghanistan. This permits Al Kaida fighters, flushed out by American troops in Afghanistan, find easy sanctuary there. Nor, has Pakistan, despite assurances to Secretary of State Richard Armitage in May, stopped aiding Islamic militants in the Kashmir region of India.

With all these doubts about Pakistan, President Bush, strangely, has made no effort to upgrade its perfunctory relations with India, the world's largest democracy. In fact, after the Indian Parliament - the equivalent of our Capitol ? was attacked by Pakistani-backed Islamic militants in December 2001, just three months after 9-11, the Bush Administration told the Indians to cool it.

"We were told not to attack Pakistan," is a familiar argument on the Indian street, "but President Bush had no hesitation attacking Afghanistan, and, then, Iraq." Is it any wonder that India is cool to the idea of sending troops to Iraq?

Ditto, China -- India?s neighbor to the north.

China has watched, with calculated interest, President Bush get entangled, first, in Afghanistan, and, then, in Iraq. China fully expects Bush to get involved in both North Korea and Iran - with similar results.

In all this, China sees an opportunity to challenge America's superpower status. After all, the People's Liberation Army [PLA] doctrine still posits a weaker America in the 21st century, and a resurgent China. Weakening the United States is the central objective of Chinese foreign policy. Why would they ever help Bush in Iraq?

And, so, all around the world -- in Europe, in the Middle East, and in Asia - there are all these reasons for not helping Bush. These reasons are as varied as they are many. But, in the end, underneath it all, there is really only one reason why the world won't help in Iraq.

They want to see Bush cut down to size.

They had lucrative oil deals with Iraq, some legitimized under the oil for food scam, some not letigimate but still run alongside the oil for food scam. They also had a great export business going with Saddam, who bought expensive equipment with money from the illicit oil sales during the oil for food scam.

In other words, Russia, France and Germany won't help because they're still ticked at losing all that money, and GW won't let them control Iraq's oil.

It all comes down to most of the entire world embracing evil and choosing to take that path. In order to fit in with them, to have them as allies, we must obey them and follow them down the road to destruction. I have news for these bozo's, we don't need them. Not only do we not need them, we need to form a new international agency with our proven allies, trade only with each other, and let the rest of the world slide on down into the waiting jaws of hell.

Europe has given itself over to complete decadance, to hades with them. Let them beg for mercy from the ambitions of Russia and China when they find they can no longer shelter under the wings of the eagle.

It would seem more likely that the IslamoNazis look on Europe as an overripe fruit that will drop in their laps without having to fire a shot, so why bother attacking them. The Europeans hope that climbing higher into the tree than we are will keep the bear from eating them. It means only that they'll be eaten for dessert rather than as the main course.

America needs to establish a new international body that excludes dictatorships and sponsors of terrorism: "the Free Nations".

That would be U.S., South American countries, Canada, New European countries, Japan, Taiwan, Israel, Australia, New Zealand, etc.

The U.N. can still exist, it's useful sometimes like the UNICEF program, but we should marginalize it, along with all the terror-supporting states of Old Europe.

That will send a message to the Islamofascists that they're free to start fully assimilating France, Germany and Belgium without any interference from the U.S.
Part of the U.S. military strategy should be to consolidate all of the terrorists and their supporters in one place. Makes an easier target.

Absolutely right. Radical Islam sees EUrope as it's PATSY. EUrope is a meant to an end to them. Their end being to rule the world. Patsy EUrope sees radical Islam as fellow, One World socialists with funny taste in clothing.

Europe is considerably more than France and Germany, and the contributions and support of the Netherlands, Denmark, Poland, Spain, Italy, and - hey, remember Great Britain? Last I checked they're still in Europe - are demeaned by the attitude this author exhibits that the only ones that count are the ones who won't help us. Were his thesis correct we would hardly see troops in the equally Islamic Afghanistan, and in fact there are (sacre bleu!) French troops there.

It's all just a little more complicated than this "they want to see Bush fail so they're holding back" oversimplification. No one in Europe is unaware of the demographic and cultural issues unrestricted immigration of unassimilable Moslems has presented. What is missing is a consensus as to what to do about them.

Yes, and France, Germany and Brussels will guarantte there is NEVER a concensus of what to do with them, thus dooming all of EUrope. Veto power makes some people power mad.

As a former American expat in Europe, I was always amazed at the degree to which Socialist Europeans -- especially in France, Germany and Scandinavia -- will go overboard trying to be all-fuzzy PC ("We must be tolerant...") about the extremely intolerant, violent attitudes shown by the hundreds of thousands of Muslim extremists literally pouring into Europe.

IMHO, most of Europe has lost its charm.

That's along the lines of what I was thinking. I wish Bush would go for it, it would assure him to get out the vote of the silent majority in the red area of the map.

I hear it at work, in social situations, family discussions. When the topic turns to politics, it's illegal immigration and the U.N. The silent majority would roar for real leadership and a real sea change. After all we are the decendents of the men that wrote the Declaration of Independence, which states our case today as well as it did the day it was penned.

When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assure among the people's of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the law's of nature and of nature's God entitles them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

The causes in this case are desperately divisive. France, representing the opinion of most of Europe, accuses us of holding on to primitive notions of morality, of right and wrong. Put another way, we hold to history's lessons of what is distructive to life and people's, and what is healthful to life and people's.

Europe has chosen to disregard the difference, not even blinking at 15,000 dead in France under the care of their manevolent socialist society. They no longer regard as worthy of thought the difference between the effects of totalitarianism and the sovereignty and value of the individual on the people's of the earth.

They are no longer capable of making a moral choice because to make such a choice would subtract points from their status of being an "enlightened society" in which truth is relative, black is white, good is evil, and no other nation has the right to insist that a despot stop killing his own people, especially if there is business to be done with the despot. Honor, in any form is passe, an embarassment. Honor and loyalty towards an ally, under whose protective wings they have sheltered for decades, and to whom they owe so much, is a hated thought.

Europe, who has conspired against us in the U.N., an entity full of the enemies of freedom, is heading toward self inflicted destruction. They have made their choice and it is not us. Their expectation is for America to follow their sly plans to use the U.N. to undermine our nation, people, freedom, constitution, sovereignty, and resources, all of which they desperately want under their control or destroyed, aided and abetted by the democrat party.

To follow them down this path is to throw away over two centuries of good works. We have backed up our belief in the importance of the individual, his sovereignty, rights, and freedoms, with hard cash, hard work, and blood sacrifice. We cannot do follow Europe's direction, we cannot do that for the sake of the people's of the earth.

Europe, not us, has drawn this line in the sand. Now we, and the other freedom loving peoples of the world, must part company with them. We are at a cross roads, I pray that we do the right thing. Because if we do not, the world will plunge into an age that will make the Dark Ages look like a week vacation at Club Med.
