Scratch rumors that Cook County State's Attorney Dick Devine is not planning to seek a third term. It ain't true.

*Dem femme tip: U.S. Sen. Clinton has agreed to be powerhouse attorney Bob Clifford's guest at a fund-raiser Clifford is throwing for Devine Nov. 17 at the Drake Hotel.

Hillary Clinton to Appear at Dick Devine Fundraiser

I'm tempted, but I'm not going make any comments about strap-ons or Barney Frank, or anything like that.

Who would Sen. Hillary Clinton root for if the Yankees faced the Cubs in a World Series?
Depends who's asking.

When the Daily News posed the hypothetical question to Clinton (D-N.Y.) through her spokeswoman Tuesday, the answer was unambiguous.

"She is rooting for the Yankees," Jennifer Hanley said.

But that same day, Clinton, who was born in the Windy City, gave an entirely different answer to the Chicago Tribune when pressed to take sides.

"I'm not commenting on anything until it happens," she told the Tribune. "It's like a no-hit game. You don't talk about it."

Clinton, who became a New Yorker just in time to run for Senate, has taken heat for saying she has long been a Cubs fan but also rooted for the Yankees. Both teams are in the playoffs.

Wanting to know whether Clinton was still considering cheering on the Cubs if they face the Yankees, The News dialed her office again yesterday.

Hanley stuck by her comments to The News and added only, "Sen. Clinton has urged us not to talk about this anymore, lest we jinx it."

Die-hard fans in the Bronx were not surprised. At Stan's Sports Bar next to Yankee Stadium, bartender Mike Rendino, 29, said: "She'll tell you anything you want to hear. It's politics. I don't think she cares one way or the other."

Why would ANYONE want one of the "kiss of death" team to endorse their candidacy? He must not want the job that badly.

You have to wonder why this guy didn't decide to go by "Rick" or "Richard" once he chose to go into politics.

Dick Devine

Sounds like a "porn stud." That name is almost as bad as being named "Richard Edward" and going by "Dick Ed."
