This is great. Talk radio's real impact on state taxing matters began here in Tennessee. From 2000 on we had a RINO governor, Don Sundquist, who tried to force a state income tax on us and ran up spending almost as badly as Davis did in California. We stopped him cold and would have recalled him if our constitution allowed it. One of the biggest reasons for our victory was the heroic work done buy Phil Valentine and Steve Gill, two tireless talk radio hosts in Nashville, our state capitol.

This year, when the RINO governor of Alabama tried to stuff a massive tax increase down the throats of the people of Alabama, talk raido hosts rose up and defeated him, just as Sundquist was defeated.

That was the first thing that jumped into my mind when I saw this thread. I was living in Murfreesboro during the tax crisis in TN -- man, it was intense. Phil Valentine and Steve Gill were positively heroic.

There ought to be an industry award of some sort -- like a Grammy but for conservative talk radio...they could call it the Paul Revere award or something -- to recognize the folks who made a difference.
