You are correct, I didn't mention my belief in God, nor the the Teachings of Christ, nor His Virgin Birth, nor his Death, Burial or Ressurection. I didn't mention how thankful-grateful-humbled I feel that God gave his Only Son for our sins.

I kinda figured one wouldn't need to mention his belief in God Almighty when beginning a discussion of converting.

Really? I can't understand this kind of thinking. What else would one mention when beginning a discussion of converting? Certainly not one's need for a support network. I would start with some of the beliefs you listed, and then go on to mention why you feel that those can be found ONLY in the Catholic Church. To me that seems to be the only possible answer to the original question.
