PETA at it again

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is at it again. To garner publicity for their radical agenda, they are denigrating the sacred person of Our Lord Jesus Christ. This time their blasphemy consists in posting billboards with a picture of a pig and the caption, “He died for your sins. Go vegetarian.”

This is not the first time PETA has attacked the Faith. Just before Christmas, PETA ran a billboard which showed an image of the Holy Virgin with a dead chicken in her arms. The caption read: “Go vegetarian. It’s an immaculate conception.”

Immediately, Catholics began to protest with emails and phone calls. The American TFP website also activated its email action list which sent protest emails. Prompted by these protests, the billboard company removed the blasphemous billboard.

Encouraged by this success, the TFP website invites you to get involved in another email protest. “Catholics stood together last Christmas and put a stop to PETA’s blasphemy,” said TFP Webmaster John Horvat. “If we stand together we can do it again!”

The American TFP’s America Needs Fatima campaign is also involved in this effort. To date they have sent out 80,000 packets with protest postcards to be sent to the three main billboard companies, asking them to refuse to post the blasphemous billboards.

In addition to the likelihood of another success, the Sacred Person of Our Lord is untouchable and must be defended. Encouraged by the Savior’s words: “Every one therefore that shall confess me before men, I will also confess him before my Father Who is in Heaven,” (Matt. 10:32) we should all join in this effort and send PETA a message that Catholics will not remain silent when their Lord is mocked.
