Funny, I don't know of that book. Sounds interesting, though.

If you want to know more about New Thought, I suggest reading some of the main New Thought writers, such as Emma Curtis Hopkins, Joel Goldsmith, Ernest Holmes, Charles and Myrtle Fillmore, Nona Brooks, Raymond Charles Barker, and others.

There is a nice congruence between New Thought and conservatism in the aspect of individual power and responsibility.

It Works by R. H. Jerrett (sp?), the classic Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill, works by James Allen and/or Ralph Waldo Emerson might interest.

Spirits in Rebellion is a good book on teh History of New Thought. to get the philosophical underpinnings, try anything by Thomas Troward, Emma Curtis Hopkins, Emerson, Phineas Parkhurst Quimby, Joel Goldsmith, Ernest Holmes, Raymond Charles Barker, Charles and Myrtle Fillmore, or Nona Brooks, to name a few.

Have you read any of Joel Goldsmith's books?

I've read a little Goldsmith. He is one of the early New Thought writers, and he is very good.

May read Goldsmith, thanx! Thinking about reading The 11th Element by Scheinfeld next.

These principles work for I was a dying pauper three years ago, in astronomical debt, house and vehicle on the brink of being taken away with my wife working her rear end off just to put food on the table.

By following the New Thought and Biblical principles I only have a mortgage of some $11k as debt with investments and assets. I;m still grossly disfigured from the cancer, but all that other cancer and b.s. seems to be gone and even exercising now after being bedridden for nearly a decade.

Goldsmith is a good one. Also Ernest Holmes, Charles and Myrtle Fillmore, the Brooks sisters, Malinda Cramer, and others. Therea re amny good contemporary writers as well.

These principles work. I have just spent several days among high-level people who are putting them to work and showing others how to do so. I am a Practitioner myself.

BTW, if you don't mind my asking, where are you located?

If you visit this site you will find links to the websites of the New Thought denominations. From those you can find groups in your area, if you're interested.

I'm glad to hear of your improving situation and will hold it in prayer for you if you want prayer. FReepmail me and I'll give you my email address.

It sounds like your situation is really improving and that is great! I'm glad to hear it.

Keep working the principles. It works when you work it.

You might also find the New Thought discussion board here interesting.

Oh good, they are getting together just as the democrats are. Seems they all have so much in common, it is appropriate that they hold their conventions at about the same time. Can you just imagine the dialog at this unholy mess?

Having just spent most of the week there, I don't have to imagine.

The dialogue was about empowerment, knowing God, individual responsibility and individual choice, and similar subjects. There were panels and speeches aon healing, the Bible, and other such subjects.

An excellent event.

Do you know if Earnest Holmes was the one who bought worthless stock, then was taught to write down making a profit on the stock.

He or whomever would write that down every night, read it, get up and reread it, then burn it and after a while that stock skyrocketed???

If you pray for me--you are praying for yourself, are you not!??

As far as the principles, last week daughter got a new car, the one I wanted for her--the deal could not be passed up, lol!!

I received an unexpected settlement out of the blue for MORE than I anticipated.

I used New Thought for no more than 15 seconds and a man who has been trying his house for over a year--has not only sold his house at price...but has to race to move out. Amazing.

Waiting on a woman whose daughter is my age and about to go into hospice for cancer, and another woman to report on a man ten years younger who is nearly dead from cancer to report back to my wife this weekend.

Tell your people to start believing they receive, friend.

I'm in the DC area and an active DC FReeper. Do you know if Earnest Holmes was the one who bought worthless stock, then was taught to write down making a profit on the stock.

He or whomever would write that down every night, read it, get up and reread it, then burn it and after a while that stock skyrocketed???

I haven't heard that one. Let me check that one out for you.

If you pray for me--you are praying for yourself, are you not!??

Yes, it is true that what you pray for for another comes back to you as well, because what is known anywhere in consciousness is known everywhere in consciousness.

Really, the only place I can do my prayer is in my own consciousness, but praying for others (even at a distance) does work for them and alter conditions in their lives.

As far as the principles, last week daughter got a new car, the one I wanted for her--the deal could not be passed up, lol!!

Was it the one she wanted? I'm sure it's a terrific car, and I am glad it worked. But it's not just about material things.

However, if you can do scientific prayer for things liek a car, then you can do it for bigger things as well. Remember that Jesus told us "It is the Father's good pleasure to give you the Kingdom," but he laso tells us to "Seek first the Kingdom."

In addition, he says, "The things that I have done, ye also shall do."

I received an unexpected settlement out of the blue for MORE than I anticipated.

That is great news as well. I used New Thought for no more than 15 seconds and a man who has been trying his house for over a year--has not only sold his house at price...but has to race to move out.

A mixed blessing. Let's treat that his m,ove is easy and effortless and that he finds the perfect place to live in the right time. All is in Divine order.

Amazing.

Waiting on a woman whose daughter is my age and about to go into hospice for cancer, and another woman to report on a man ten years younger who is nearly dead from cancer to report back to my wife this weekend.

I know that they are expressing the wholeness and health of God now and that illness and disease have no power over them.

Tell your people to start believing they receive, friend.

Believe me, they know. I'm a Practitioner and most of the people presenting at this Congress were ministers.

It isn't? New Thought is a healing teaching and healing is always a good thing, isn't it?

***New Thought is a healing teaching and healing is always a good thing, isn't it?***

Is this an endorsement for witch doctors? How about New Age "occult healing" (Alice Bailey's term)?

You endorsing all of these folks?
