Dear God,

Tomorrow I go off to war
Tonight I kneel in prayer
I've got some things to ask you, God
Because I know you care

I go to fight for freedom
Leaving family behind
You protect so many families
I pray you'll look after mine

Please bless my wife with strength, Lord
And confidence each day
Help her see what we already know...
She's always led the way

Bless her with the knowledge
To do the things I've always done
Let her know I'll gladly do them all
After the battle is won

Bless my sons and bless my daughter
To feel my love while I am gone
Let them feel me in their hearts
Holding them, when they're alone

Help them understand I go to fight
So they can live in peace
Without fear, without worry
The way my Fathers fought for me

Bless my brothers, sister, Mom and Dad
I hope they all will know
I proudly carry our name to battle
They are with me as I go

God, please bless the men beside me
For at times we may see Hell
If they fall I will not leave them
We will serve each other well

As for me I don't need anything
Help me fight the good fight
Just stay near me on the battlefield
And when I sleep at night.

Help me to make it home again
To see the ones I love
But if I must, I'll give my life
For this country that I love

And, if somehow I don't return
Tell them not to Despair
I'll be standing guard in Heaven
I'll be waiting for them there.

Dedicated to America's Heroes, past and present, including you, Second Lieutenant Holmes. Take care of those guys out there, amigo. We're proud of you and we'll see you when you get back.
