BROOKLYN DIOCESE TO SHUT 26 SCHOOLS
February 10, 2005 -- Twenty-six Catholic elementary schools in Brooklyn and Queens will close after the school year forcing more than 4,100 youngsters to find new schools before September, the Diocese of Brooklyn said yesterday. The largest blood-letting in diocese history announced on Ash Wednesday comes less than four months after The Post first reported that as many as 25 parish schools were facing the closing bell because of dwindling enrollment.
The affected schools, 17 in Brooklyn and nine in Queens, represent more than one in six schools in the diocese.

What the children of these immigrants need is education, which is of quality, and of a Catholic nature - to help them to be literate and to teach them the faith.
In the last 30 years the Brooklyn Diocese, under the "sterling leadership" of Bishops Mugavero and Daily has showed nothing but their tailfeathers to the poor and largely non-white new Catholics who are rapidly populating the neighborhoods, and filling the pews of the churches.
Rather then any serious outreach to the poor - keeping churches open that their souls may be saved.....or the parochial schools oppen so that the young may learn of the faith and have a chance at a serious education, the Bishops of the Brooklyn Diocese have done nothing but systematically close down inner city churches & schools.......while in the still mostly white neighborhoods "Father" wallows in luxury and weekly 5 digit collection revenues.
So much for spreading the Gospel to the poor!

How sad (but planned) :-(
