I forgot one of the duties of the Hospitality Ministers!
Taking up the collection!
We don't have and never have had "hospitality ministers." (never heard of those) We have ushers. We've always been a more traditionsal church - though far from what it used to be, and in spite of our church's physical appearance. Since we got the new priest, we've dropped a mass and still, the church is half empty. The modern (1970's/1980's music) makes it sound like a circus and the reverence has gone.
We used to be a thriving, full church. Change is good, but the Vatican II pendulum has swung too far the other way. The Novus Ordo has been used as an excuse to introduce changes that were never meant to be. The Mass should be totally Christ-centered - not 'you and me' centered. That's what it has turned into.
