I think your right, but, I have to study that more and get the bigger picture, but, I know that some back then didn't want the masses to get hold of the Bible so they can read it for themselves.

I know that some back then didn't want the masses to get hold of the Bible so they can read it for themselves.Is this based on the fact that Bibles were often chained to the lecturn in churches? There was a reason for that. Books were expensive to produce, and there was a risk of copies being stolen. Also, widespread literacy is a pretty recent phenomenon.

Yes, I can see why it was not a convenient thing to lugg around a Bible that you would have to carry around in a little wagon.
