Didn't quite know where or whether to post this, but since I darn near shorted out my keyboard watching it I thought others might appreciate it as well - its an inspirational gem in a cesspool of cynicism.

Apologies to the mods in advance if I goofed up.

The power of God, shining bright through a father’s love for his son.

I’ve seen a long interview with Mr. Hoyt and he said something along the lines that his son is physically as we all are spiritually - broken and incapable (if one is born again, otherwise, dead in sin); that God (through Jesus) redeems us and, through His strength, we are conquerors.

The Lord God of heaven is gracious. No man has any cause for boasting of himself. Christ redeems His chosen ones and because of His grace, we are victorious.

The Hoyts remind us of how great the Father’s love is for us whom He has saved - that we are called the children of God!

Another thing that struck me about this. You figure they were probably one of if not the last ones to finish. Yet there was a huge crowd there to watch them cross the finish line. A great tribute to them both.

Thanks, I had the privilege of meeting the Hoyts about 20 years ago on a business trip. We had a stopover in an airport and the father is in person just what you see on the video. They were on their way to compete in a marathon as a team.

From the Isaacs CD, Heroes

Momma combs his hair and Daddy helps him brush his teeth
Day after day for thirty years the same routine
The special needs he lives with make life seem so unfair
But he thanks God every day cause he knows Mom and Dad are there

(chorus) He’s a hero and she’s a hero
It doesn’t matter that nobody knows their name
They keep on giving to make life worth living
Might go unnoticed but they’re heroes just the same

They tried for many years to have a baby of their own
But God knew a little girl who didn’t have a home
Someone else’s burden was their blessing in disguise
And now she’s got a Mom and Daddy there to hold her when she cries

Every single parent who must carry twice the load
And those who sacrifice to raise a child that’s not their own
They dedicate their time to make a difference in someone else’s life
And in my eyes

They might go unnoticed but they’re heroes just the same.
