OMAHA, Neb. Officials at a meatpacking plant in Grand Island fired at least 86 workers Friday after they walked off the job amid a dispute over prayers during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, the company said.
However, a Muslim leader and one of the fired workers disputed the plant's numbers, saying 150 people had lost their jobs at the JBS Swift & Co. facility, which employs about 2,500 people, not including management. About a fifth of them are Muslim.
JBS Swift spokeswoman Tamara Smid, who confirmed 86 firings late Friday, said the action was taken against employees who had repeatedly left work without authorization.
Grand Island is 120 miles west of Omaha.
Muslim workers mostly of Somali background have been asking for accommodations with break times to allow for prayer at sunset. The issue led to walkouts this week not only from Muslims but also from non-Muslims, who said such accommodations are preferential treatment.
So this violates their visas.
Deport them.

Oh, boo frickin hoo. As an atheist in a Judeo-Christian country I'm so sick of those who have no understanding, appreciation or even simple acknowledgment that the vast majority of folks here are CHRISTIAN and the culture is and should be accomodating those of those (and related, i.e. Judaism) beliefs. No nation is going to maintain any kind of order if it tries to accomodate every single culture equally. Take a look at numerous countries from which Muslim immigrants come and then compare them to this one. You simply can't alter the cultural landscape here and expect the civility and order of this Judeo-Christian culture to remain.
You folks are strangers here--this isn't a Muslim country, and to try to force it to be one would be to distort the secular structures that can survive alongside Judeo-Christianity but simply CAN NOT survive alongside Sharia.
It seems to be a pattern - Muslims gain a foothold in a business, such as taxi driving or at a meatpacking plant and when their numbers are great enough, they start making demands to accommodate their religious rituals. It seems like they are Islamacizing the U. S. a little at a time.
I support the firing of muslims whenever they attempt to impose their religion on anyone else or make demands for special treatment based on their religion. Either adapt or exit. Latter, of course, is preferred.

Good. Nobody should have special rights because of their religion. And having to stop during the work day for prayers disrupts work.

I heard a couple of things and I don’t know if they are true. One, this Swift company is not American owned. Two, the company brought these Muslims into Grand Island (and I guess Greeley) in the first place. Anyone have any info on that?
They replaced the Mexicans with Muslims.
The meat packers will all move out of the country before they hire Americans again.
