Apropos of your comment, C.S. Lewis (I am always quoting him, but he says it so well) noted that the stain of sin on one's soul is the same regardless of how many people your sin affects. He said that one man may be placed so that his anger causes the death of millions, while another is in a situation where his anger only results in people laughing at him. But the sin is the same.
I do think however that priests and bishops have a special and terrifying trust, since they are responsible for their flock under orders from Christ Himself. That would scare the absolute fire out of me.
