The Ignorant Fishermen

2000 years ago before Jesus was crucified and rose from the dead, He chose men. The elite class and religious rulers of that day called these men ignorant. God, however, called these men to be His Fishermen and Ambassadors to the dying world.

Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel. Now as he walked by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men (Mark 1:14-17).

Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus (Acts 4:13).

And I wonder in astonishment whenever I hear folks boast of individuals who are such great theologians and scholars because they are such great intellectuals...

Thanks for your Post! I am reminded of the following:
“And from a child thou hast known the Holy Scriptures,
which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is Christ Jesus.” (2 Timothy 3:15)
“For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing, and out of the water and in the water.” (2 Peter 3:5)
“For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God.....” (1 Corinthians 3:19a)
