I actually enjoy reading the gospels that didn’t make it into the Bible, such as the gnostic gospels.

Extrabiblical books might be historical and enjoyable reading, but as Scripture, I still have my hands full relying on the standards canon, fully inbreathing His Word and growing in its doctrines as they relate between one another.

From there, I have a sure ground by which to discern other writings. I also know there are plenty of writings, which are not so veritable and easily clutter one’s thinking, distracting away from remaining in fellowship by thinking through faith in Christ in all things.

An interesting read as well is the Book of Enoch which is quoted in the Book of Jude in the Bible as a prophetic source.

Wiki - Book of Enoch

Enoch is considered as Scripture in the Epistle of Barnabas (16:4)[7] and by many of the early Church Fathers as Athenagoras[8], Clement of Alexandria[9], Irenaeus[10] and Tertullian[11] who wrote c. 200 that the Book of Enoch had been rejected by the Jews because it contained prophecies pertaining to Christ.[12]
