Life Imitates the Word of God

1st Samuel 8:4-18 NIV

4 So all the elders of Israel gathered together and came to Samuel at Ramah. 5 They said to him, "You are old, and your sons do not walk in your ways; now appoint a king to lead us, such as all the other nations have."

The "sons of Reagan", the inheritors of the conservative legacy, did not walk in his ways. (Think Bush Jr, GOP congress 2000-2006.) This creates a clamor for "change".

Every so-called progressive has always wanted us to be just like "all the other nations".

And every other nation is in ecstasy over Obama. This should make us very, very worried.

6 But when they said, "Give us a king to lead us," this displeased Samuel; so he prayed to the LORD.

The proper conservative reaction and response.

7 And the LORD told him: "Listen to all that the people are saying to you; it is not you they have rejected, but they have rejected me as their king. 8 As they have done from the day I brought them up out of Egypt until this day, forsaking me and serving other gods, so they are doing to you.

The desire for a "man on a white horse" is ever and always symptomatic of a rejection of God. When people refuse to worship the real God, eventually they MUST put someone else in his place. But, inevitably, it's above his pay grade.

9 Now listen to them; but warn them solemnly and let them know what the king who will reign over them will do." 10 Samuel told all the words of the LORD to the people who were asking him for a king.

They were warned.... but they didn't listen, they wanted "change" so badly!

11 He said, "This is what the king who will reign over you will do: He will take your sons and make them serve with his chariots and horses, and they will run in front of his chariots. 12 Some he will assign to be commanders of thousands and commanders of fifties, and others to plow his ground and reap his harvest, and still others to make weapons of war and equipment for his chariots. 13 He will take your daughters to be perfumers and cooks and bakers.

Mandatory national service, just like Obama is proposing: both quasi-military and civilian. (Remember it was the GOP that got RID of the draft....)

14 He will take the best of your fields and vineyards and olive groves and give them to his attendants.

Lawless eminent domain -- property confiscation for private use -- courtesy of the Kelo decision by the "Supreme" Court.

15 He will take a tenth of your grain and of your vintage and give it to his officials and attendants. 16 Your menservants and maidservants and the best of your cattle and donkeys he will take for his own use. 17 He will take a tenth of your flocks, and you yourselves will become his slaves.

Taxes, taxes, taxes.... ending in slavery, as all unlimited-taxation regimes ultimately do. The good news if that we ever escape from slavery, we can be sure that the liberals will pay us reparations...... NOT!

18 When that day comes, you will cry out for relief from the king you have chosen, and the LORD will not answer you in that day."

The Lord will not answer. Is that the "change" you wanted?

A firm chastening for the Republicans who lost their way (and ushered in the age of Obama):

The more sign it, the more powerful the message.

Right down your alley, Darth. Just as you have sensed, imho.

Excellent analysis and sobering parallels.

Very fitting, imho.

Do what? That Bible passage has absolutely nothing to do with current history.

It is right on and God will bring about change by shattering the Obama presidency to a pile of junk and along with it the hopes and dreams of those who supported him. Then He redeems and rebuilds.

I hate to sound like a kill joy, but stick a fork in the US.

We are living in the end times. The US is not mentioned in end time prophecies, and is not a major player.

God is Israels protector not the US. We must decrease so that God may increase.

The Bible tells us that when Israel became a nation, that generation will not pass without seeing the second coming. Israel became a nation in 1948. WE ARE that generation.

This world will get worse, so that a "savior" can save it. That "savior" is the anti-christ. The US' time as a major player is coming to an end. The world will degenerate around us.

Luke 21: 5Some of his disciples were remarking about how the temple was adorned with beautiful stones and with gifts dedicated to God. But Jesus said, 6"As for what you see here, the time will come when not one stone will be left on another; every one of them will be thrown down." 7"Teacher," they asked, "when will these things happen? And what will be the sign that they are about to take place?"

8He replied: "Watch out that you are not deceived. For many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am he,' and, 'The time is near.' Do not follow them. 9When you hear of wars and revolutions, do not be frightened. These things must happen first, but the end will not come right away."

10Then he said to them: "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. 11There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven.

12"But before all this, they will lay hands on you and persecute you. They will deliver you to synagogues and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and governors, and all on account of my name. 13This will result in your being witnesses to them. 14But make up your mind not to worry beforehand how you will defend yourselves. 15For I will give you words and wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to resist or contradict. 16You will be betrayed even by parents, brothers, relatives and friends, and they will put some of you to death. 17All men will hate you because of me. 18But not a hair of your head will perish. 19By standing firm you will gain life.

20"When you see Jerusalem being surrounded by armies, you will know that its desolation is near. 21Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those in the city get out, and let those in the country not enter the city. 22For this is the time of punishment in fulfillment of all that has been written. 23How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! There will be great distress in the land and wrath against this people. 24They will fall by the sword and will be taken as prisoners to all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

25"There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. 26Men will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken. 27At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near."

My hope is not in nations or leaders. My hope is in Jesus Christ and his word.

He is my HOPE, and there is CHANGE coming.

“The US is not mentioned in end time prophecies, and is not a major player.”

The US did not exist when the book of Revelation was written. Also a generation is 40 years and 1988 was 21 years ago.

Are we living in the endtimes? Very well could be. So far as I’m concerned the countdown began when Christ ascended into heaven and the Church is always to be vigilent awaiting
His return.

Does God tarry and put things off? Yes He does and He will make his Church ready for His return.

My hope has never been in a leader. Other people have not learned as we have. So patience, long-suffering and mercy should be at the core of your spirit.

God has to teach many of these poor folks a lesson and has plans to save them.

On election night I received this reading during my prayer time:

Jeremiah 17:5-13

5Thus says the Lord:
Cursed are those who trust in mere mortals
and make mere flesh their strength,
whose hearts turn away from the Lord.
6They shall be like a shrub in the desert,
and shall not see when relief comes.
They shall live in the parched places of the wilderness,
in an uninhabited salt land.

7Blessed are those who trust in the Lord,
whose trust is the Lord.
8They shall be like a tree planted by water,
sending out its roots by the stream.
It shall not fear when heat comes,
and its leaves shall stay green;
in the year of drought it is not anxious,
and it does not cease to bear fruit.

9The heart is devious above all else;
it is perverse—
who can understand it?
10I the Lord test the mind
and search the heart,
to give to all according to their ways,
according to the fruit of their doings.

11Like the partridge hatching what it did not lay,
so are all who amass wealth unjustly;
in mid-life it will leave them,
and at their end they will prove to be fools.

12O glorious throne, exalted from the beginning,
shrine of our sanctuary!
13O hope of Israel! O Lord!
All who forsake you shall be put to shame;
those who turn away from you* shall be recorded in the underworld,*
for they have forsaken the fountain of living water, the Lord

He may very well use this nation’s armaments as instruments of His wrath on Israel’s enemies.

The point of the passage is that mankind is not and never has been equipped to govern himself. We should live under the leadership of God our creator. We persist in trying to prove that some person or persons can bail us out of crisis after crisis, but the truth is, they only enslave us more. It is a spiritual truth that resounds throughout the generations. Until mankind understands that we cannot govern ourselves, that we are built for the true theocracy of the government of Jesus Christ, there will never be peace. We are STILL building towers in babel. The cry for unity & a one world government is a symptom of that obsession.

Psalm90:10 The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.

Israel became a nation in 1948, IF we use Psalms, that would mean 2018.

I don't believe any man can know the date and time, but scripture does give us clues.

Also, when Jesus said "that generation shall not pass", was he refering to a set number of years, or a specific generation? A person 1 year old at the time of Israels rebirth could live 80 or 90 years. If God does not come after 40 years or 70, has he lied? Not at all. The entire generation has not passed.

We also need to look at other Bible prophecies of end times. Never before has technology been available that would allow centralized world banking, and an individualized identification system, tied to it. We are near that today.

We watch daily as Israel is attacked or denounced. Anti Israel sentiments are on the rise.

I watch almost daily as prophecies and end time conditions I heard about as a kid, fall into place.

I see 2 upcoming great wars concerning Israel. The first, what is commonly called the war of Gog/Magog. In it there is no earthly defender of Israel. Russia and a coalition of Islamic nations attack Israel. There is no mention of defenders of Israel. Just God, destroying these armies/nations in the mountains of Israel.

Ezekiel 38:18And it shall come to pass at the same time when Gog shall come against the land of Israel, saith the Lord GOD, that my fury shall come up in my face.

19For in my jealousy and in the fire of my wrath have I spoken, Surely in that day there shall be a great shaking in the land of Israel;

20So that the fishes of the sea, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the field, and all creeping things that creep upon the earth, and all the men that are upon the face of the earth, shall shake at my presence, and the mountains shall be thrown down, and the steep places shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the ground.

21And I will call for a sword against him throughout all my mountains, saith the Lord GOD: every man's sword shall be against his brother.

22And I will plead against him with pestilence and with blood; and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people that are with him, an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone.

23Thus will I magnify myself, and sanctify myself; and I will be known in the eyes of many nations, and they shall know that I am the LORD.

The second great battle is at Armageddon, where ALL the nations, lead by antichrist, surround Israel. At the last moment Christ appears from heaven with all the saints, steps on the Mt. Of Olives, and conquers AC.

The only time I could see our weapons being used to defend Israel would possibly be during the trib, after the Obamanation of Desolation, and before Armageddon, when AC attacks the jews and kills 2/3 of them.

Maybe the US COULD be a player in these end times, whether it is or isn't is really unimportant. Like you mentioned, we should be vigilante in waiting for Christs return.

I don't believe that our energy should be in building large chuches or having this church activity or that. Our focus is not to be a long term earthly life, but an expectation of Christs return at any moment. With that we should be trying to spread the Good News to as many people as possible.

We, the church, have become complacent. We live our lives for the here and now. Building great buildings and "ministries", and calling it Gods work. But we have lost our sense of urgency, of reaching others for Christ.

We live for the here and now, and lost our ETERNAL focus. This has been a fairly recent conviction for me. And have come to realize, that our first calling is to witness to others. After that, everything else works into place.

I know all of these things and feel the way you do. I also work with things and have just invented some new technologies that I cannot talk about that will help fulfill these prophecies. The Holy Spirit gave me the ideas just like Noah got the instructions for the ark. I have a catbird seat.

Stay away from dates as many end-time prophets have tried to put a date on the Lord’s return and get the mantle of “false prophets” Try to think of this: a generation passing can include ancestors who were born at the time Israel reformed in 1948. God will bring things to pass in His good time.

You can say that again! That is going to start to change “real soon” as God is going to start to shake things up on the top. Start to heed your calling.
