The Catholic Church has hundreds of priests in the Brooklyn, Queens and Long Island areas ready to listen to your confessions this coming Holy Week. The Catholic Dioceses of Brooklyn and Rockville Center (with the help of the Forza Migliozzi agency) created SoulWow with a goal of filling confessional booths in Brooklyn, Queens, and Long Island on Monday, April 6.
I love their infomercial-style website copy that says, Get that almost baptized feeling!

Don't know if "Father Vic" is actually a priest.
Catholic ping!
This is great. I kept wondering when the clergy would turn to a bit of pop culture to get the message out. And the idea to have all parishes offering Penance at the same time is really good. That was done here at one point a few years back and it worked out rather well.
It was not a mob scene like last year, when the penances took more than 3 hours to complete (even with a whole bunch of priests) because they consolidated several parishes. They were still hearing confessions at 10:30 at night when we left choir practice . . . which started late because the choirmaster was playing the organ for the penance service . . . .
They keep refining this concept . . . . I hope it goes well for Brooklyn Diocese!
After all, WE have "Father Crunk" in the Archdiocese of Atlanta . . .
He's made the big time, more or less:
He's a very orthodox, straight up, holy man . . . just has a pretty unconventional delivery!
Hope this gets pinged out to all Catholics everywhere!
And for Catholics in Brooklyn, Queens and Long Island, todays's the day to Come Clean!!
i started to hear the commercials on wabc radio during rush a few days ago.. It’s a great idea. My diocese has been doing this throughout the entire season of lent, every church in the diocese is open for confession on Mondays from 7-8:30 pm.
Sounds good to me! If the younger folks are drawn to that delivery, and are getting catechized properly as a result, that's an absolute BONUS!
He used to be our parochial vicar, he got promoted to assistant director of vocations . . . the SECOND pv from our parish to head to the archdiocese . . . we miss him.
He came back for the big Confession Event last Wednesday, we sure were glad to see him! He heard my confession right before he left for the Big Time, he's an excellent confessor, very orthodox, very warm, very engaged.
