Do you get a sense that Jedediah’s beautiful posts have a way of making some people very uncomfortable? Especially now that the END IS NEAR?
LOTS of “Christians”
have a genetic or at least visceral AVERSION
to the whole idea that God can speak to us directly in this era. They
break out in hives,
appoplexy,
frenetic rants,
hyperventilated rages,
playing pogo-stick on their pointed heads;
flail about like a disentigrating whirling dervishes;
descend in death spirals of despairing pontifications;
. . .
. . .
Lots of folks DON’T EVEN WANT TO CONSIDER THE POSSIBILITY THAT GOD MIGHT SPEAK POINTEDLY INTO THEIR LIVES by a donkey or any other means.
Much better to leave all THAT packed safely away in some tidy little box labled 70AD or some such.
Certainly the END TIMES leaves most of us less than serene on a number of fronts.
Folks who are used to . . . with a death grip . . .

their lives [and likely the lives for miles around—according to their imaginations] and reality [or more accurately, fantasizing that they do] can be EXTREMELY averse to remotely considering the fact that they are likely terminally WRONG.
Many vast denominations and congregations of folks have NEVER had the experience of an authentically prophetically gifted person . . . or God directly . . . breaking through their shells and READING THEIR MAIL.
AND THEY’VE NEVER HAD THE FREEDOM THAT RESULTS FROM RESPONDING TO GOD’S COMMUNICATIONS THUSLY IN REDEMPTIVE WAYS.
AND IF THEY HAVE THEIR WAY, THEY AREN’T ABOUT TO START!
However, I Cor 12-14 is SCRIPTURE . . . though ripped out of most Bibles in most Denominations.
Even most Pentecostal/Charismatic denominations and congregations fall far short of living those chapters out as written.
Quakers, Methodists, . . . a number of now thoroughly polluted groups used to have Holy Spirit move and speak routinely in their meetings. Now such histories seem to be quaint embarrassments to them, if the admit them at all.
God is going to change all that. He’s going to take a big stick and stir the “Christian” pot real good; shake it up and down vigorously and pour it all out on some very hot coals. What survives will be a LOT better.
What doesn’t survive will be gone, very gone, forever.
And lots of “Christians” will have discovered they weren’t anything close.
Yep.
