Should Right to Life stand be taken during Lent?

The season of Lent has begun and for Christians who celebrate it comes the annual questions of what was given up and what does it mean. For faith leaders in Ann Arbor or other cities across the nation it is a season to help their flock to take an inner examination of the tenets of belief that governs their faith walk.

Typically church attendance is up for the several weeks between Ash Wednesday and Easter. Yet is this based upon a new outlook on one’s faith or is it a temporary ritualistic need to be especially good and faithful during that 40-day period and when it is over the wheel comes off of the wagon again?

Let’s take a look at the reason Jesus spent forty days in the desert praying for his ministry. He was tested by demons including the head honcho himself: Satan. With his ordeal in mind then giving up smoking, eating fatty foods or some other “sacrifice” will be replaced with ...

"He was tested by demons including the head honcho himself: Satan."

It must be great to be in a religion where the Bible is just for decoration. Making stuff up as you go is way easier than reading.

The three practices of Lent are prayer, fasting, almsgiving.

So why not pray, fast, and give your time in almsgiving by taking part in the 40 Days for Life, February 17 -- March 29, 2010, Come and Pray to Stop Abortion in the World??

You can do this by finding a Planned Parenthood (killing house) Center in your area and going and standing in front of it to pray -- thus giving your time to the unborn who are about to be aborted. It will strengthen one's observance of Lent, not weaken it! BTW -- you can do this virtually, too, by going to that thread each day -- posted both in the Religion and the News Forums -- and pray virtually. Get on either Faith's or my ping list.
